well that's a good point and if more people do it BRS wouldnt stand out anymore either.
leia, i think they worry too much about things that needs no worrying.. they should worry about making cool stuff themselves instead :)
hey it's pouet. the place where worrying about anything but making cool stuff is status quo!
and zoom, you're just jealous!!!111 and thanks!

maali, true :) *shakes hands* - lets move on to mock each other in different threads now hehe..
we, the guys at ultrasound, we never had banners. also, we had to pay for our tickets, trips, hotels and so on. and we lived far away from each other (Rotterdam, Arnhem, Frankfurt and Hamburg) so we had to come to FF / Bingen 1 week before, meaning missing work and/or vacations, spend more money and sleepless nights.
it was hard. but worth it, because we enjoyed. 3 years after we stopped, no-one really cares about us and we are ok with it. I just think that when there's no budget to pay for a scene band to play at breakpoint, we/they still to because it's the way we know to give back to the scene. that should be enough.
I enjoyed xerxes concert, even if I was dead tired, and the brainstorm propaganda wasn't that bad. Just relax, guys.

jeenio: what about bass? :P
argh! truly, when even brainstorm manages to a do more appealing promotion campaign, one has to start worrying! and nothing personal, but next to that the whole maali-marketing machine is becoming more a circlejerking nuisance than what it's intending to do, so please! this thread sucks!

damn, you pierced thru my cunning scheme!
Maali is fucking awesssomomomomomome
i also thought the whole somewhat corporate-ish marketing campaign for a demogroup was a bit much. using slides to advertise diskmags/gigs/parties/etc is fine of course but multiple slides just advertising the group was a little strange and gave me a slight arrogant vibe as well.
but yeah i got nothing against anyone and hope no one takes this personally.

brainstorm totally ripped off their concepts from titan anyway.
and i'm sure you didn't mean to come across as being arrogant... it's just how i felt.
dudes.. we are 30 years+ with wives and kids and stuff... and we are not on the demoscene to be cool. we are just trying to contribute to it. if that comes off as having a big ego - that is your problem, not ours.
also: brainstorm was 20 years this year. we felt like celebrating. therefore we bought beers for everyone and made a banner for it. how is that a bad thing? sometimes i hate pouet - seems to bring out the idiot in some people.

ok, so it's my problem, thanks for pointing it out
free beer??? how come I didn't get any?!?!
jeenio, i announced it twice while the concert was going on :)
dodke, so you think everyone should not do anything to get noticed? i dont think what we did was so different than the pants off stunt from the danes. you will get attention doing something like that. and i loved it! they also contributed with the best productions on BP - so in my eyes they can do whatever the want.

yeah, but i was at the grandstand.... now i remember :D
Uh, I totally forgot to say thanks for the free beer somewhere. So. Uhm. Thanks for the free beer, it was awesome. You can probably see me consume it when the concert footage is released, and it was put to good use by making me drunk dance harder (and worse!) to the awesome concert.
As for the banners, I really didn't mind them at all. It's not like they were intrusive or anything. My thoughts when I saw them were something along the line of " Brainstorm? Huh? They better make some good stuff to be worth those bigscreen slides." And, well, you did. So I guess it's allright. And I got beer, so I'm more than happy.

discussions because of banners on the beamer!?!? o_O... oh come on - we can do better flaming than that!
graga, great to hear :) and RK told me he had really enjoyed your guitar discussions.. so big ups :)
puryx, indeed! i think we should put this thread in the grave somehow.

xerxes, no that's not what i meant and i didn't mean it in a bad way anyway. could you please not blow it out of proportion. I didn't mean to attack you or anyone else, i just said there was a "slight arrogant vibe" and that's all. if there had been only one slide i'm sure no one would complain. even that is just my own opinion on the subject but it would be nice to be able to voice it without having someone going off telling me it's my own problem.
and having demogroup or other scene related t-shirts is a long tradition so there's nothing strange about that of course.
peace!

dodke, ok fine. personally i would not mind if any group had 100 banners on the beamer. i really just dont care about things like that.
