Brokepoint - Breakpoint 2009 is in danger and needs YOUR support
category: general [glöplog]
Same here. :)
tft: the last party about waking up hungover is spot on!
Having a bunch of rather sad experiences in different Bingen hotels (including but not limited to: freezing temperatures, having a room with no shower and needing to walk half-nude in the hallway and "oh sorry, we promised that we'd have breakfast but actually we don't unless you pay more for it"), I booked a room at NH for this year. It might be expensive, but it's actually a hotel.
(and yes, I am getting old.. )
the NH is nice - an actual proper hotel. The other cheapo ones ive stayed in have been alright tho - starkenburger is probably the worst. and we might not be welcome at one of the others due to a ham fighting incident.
but anyway. to all those dissing the hotels - never forget how many great demos have been finished in those hotel rooms.. :)

smash: ..but only those by old-farts (who keep winning compos) and sofa-sceners, apparently. :)
at least at the partyplace you pretty much know what to expect from the get-go :D
gloom: the hotel-room I stayed in last year had a pretty nice sofa :)
considering the amount of time i was in my hotel room last year it was pretty good value..
What the "€%&"@{
You only use the hotel room to get a good nights sleep, instead of being cripled by sleeping on 25 cent cafeteria chairs!

steel: for some reason it seems to be harder for coders to live that dream. :)
chromag: this year you bring me proper jaegermeister - or you will have to give reed a real blowjob this year :)
Hi,
to further support Breakpoint 2009 and to get more people there (including ourselves...) Digitale Kultur e.V. is organizing a bustrip from Cologne to Bingen. Find all important information on this undertaking right here.
So you can now start looking for flights to Cologne (CGN) as well!

This is simply not true. For example, I never expected being woken up with beer poured in my mouth, or by a random German dude playing Blümchen on a ghettoblaster, or waking up snuggled right next to snoring Nosfe with a sour taste in my mouth and absolutely no idea where I am.
(not that I don't remember all those situations rather fondly)
Is there still going to be a hotel arrangement through Breakpoint's site? It's getting rather close and not knowing if I should book a hotel for me and my wife independently is playing on my mind somewhat :)
I think no hotel will allow reservation right now because there will be an arrangement through the BP website again.
m0d, it's in the FAQ:
"The hotel reservation system will be launched after the official Breakpoint website is. Please do not contact Breakpoint partner hotels directly, you won't be able to book a room directly. Just relax and wait until we launch the hotel reservation system. "

m0d: I feel your pain... same situation here.
jeenio: you're booking a room for you and m0d's wife too? you dirty old codger!
The new and improved jeenio now features a wife!
Did anyone receive his/her supporter ticket already? From the text on the website, it sounds as if it's a matter of a few days until the ticket will be sent to you. However, I've paid mine more than two weeks ago and still didn't get anything. I don't want to complain -- I'm just wondering if "everything is under control" or if I should start investigating the issue :)
KeyJ: No, they didn't get sent yet, and it will probably take until after CeBIT for us to do so. Thanks for your patience.
