I miss the old days... some thoughts from an ex-scener.
category: general [glöplog]
@tmb & @weyland: funny that you guys only focus on producing stuff. Apparantly you totaly missed the point which old sceners are trying to make, being that the scene is so much more than simply producing demos...
This I know, but I find those other areas less interesting, but that's personal, and ofcourse the "get involved" can also mean tracking, pixelling or even boozing ;)
word has it that modern minds are too narrow for modern scopes.
regarding the "genre of demo music"...well I guess that was called italo pop or something ;) one example: "valerie dore-get closer" was nicely covered in an old amiga alphaflight intro (~1991) ... but I no one seems to follow the likes of e.g. "nowwhat2" by dr.awesome today .
then again I am quiet happy that, technically, the "old world" is a subset of the "new world" today...
finally...the scene is *much* larger today...more people cause more competition and competition wants to be smoked in the most "cool" way possible, thats probably why most of todays productions seem so "cold" and technically- and actually they are.
last but not least, lets not forget about the many (!) sub-scenes that have formed since the very first day mankind blitted a footstep on a bitmapped moon.

Chotaire...!???! :-DDDDDD
Hey, pal, GREAT seeing you posting on here!!!
I surely agree with your words...as I can tell from my own 'good old days' back there starting in '85... !!!
It was JUST GREAT !! And I guess I won't ever regret all that.
That's why I'm still here and active today enjoying all the things changed meanwhile.
Although I agree to a certain point to Wild Rage's initial words.
But well...time won't stop...and things are _always_ changing!
Fact is:
WE are the scene! And WE should just make OUR scene the way WE want to have it!
So let's rock it, guys... :-)
Bye,
Weasel
...hey, and BEST greetings to you, chotaire...!! :-D
If you have a chance...call me again after all those years!! :-)
