I guess the news went around by now; for the ones who don't speak german, he was found on Monday in Kiel-Holtenau - he hung himself. He also left a suicide note, but the contents are yet undisclosed.
The funeral will be on friday (23.), and if you want to send a message to the family, send it to Chaotic.

agree, life is short enough as it is. unfortunate that some people choose to make it shorter. but then I guess life is very ugly at times and it may be hard to see any light. so that's why they do it.
many have been there (in the darkness) but the key is to hold out!! those periods pass, even if at the time they seem like they never will.
Of course, I do not know Sobec's particular circumstances. I'm just making a general point.

6 months without talking to him and today i learn that he died. :(

it's really negatively surprising that someone who seemed to be a somewhat cheerful person had gone that way. in only knew tim from parties, telephone and irc, but still, excluding a few episodes, to me he seemed to be on the bright side of life.

I feel sad learning what happened to Sobec. He was one of the best compo organizers I have ever met. It is a great loss for Bp and for traxxers in general. I guess he did what he wanted. RIP friend.
I have been through this shit personally around ten years ago when Tommy/Avena (Tomas Jaenicke, a very gifted ST/Falcon/Amiga musician) took his life for god knows what reasons :'(

seems there was no other way out. rip sobec. i wish his friends and family all the strength they can get, for this must have surely been a complete surprise.

He was not especially known to me, but it is sad to hear that we now lost two sceners to suicide within less than a year. To some people this is bloody hard times, but remember to always look forward to the good moments in your life - they sometimes come totally unexpected (many of mine did).
If you are down, I can only recomend that you do something selflessly good to other people - whatever it is. Lots of us are great at computers, so use those skills to help those less fortunate (Note: Not by teaching school-children Java). Or become a visiting friend for an old lady once a week. Anything! Really, if you are leaving anyway, why not at least try that out?
My only regret in my (so far) short life is that it took me so long to realize the oppurtunities that lie in helping other people get to the next level in ANY aspect of their life. But don't look back at what you didn't achieve, look forward and know that you can change yoruself and your life for the better, no matter how fucked up you might feel. It might takes ten years, it might take a month, but determining to make the best of it is half-way there.
Don't hesitate to ask for help if you are on the edge. There are many resourceful people here who can give you a prod in the right direction.

still it took me quite some time to feel not too sad anymore to say sth about it.
some ppl even think they would set a sign to others by commiting suicide...thats not working, atleast not towards the ppl who could change the situation(s) somehow for others still living.
its just leaving ppl behind who have to swallow such a bad death.
