3d technology in cinemas

Not sure you want to drink it though: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denatured_alcohol.
yes, a bottle of mouthwash surely sounds appealing
Quote:
Typical additives are methanol, isopropyl alcohol, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, denatonium,[1] and even (uncommonly) aviation gasoline.
Hahaha, goddamn! :D I'll stick to purple drank then :)
I've seen a guy on the street wearing those glasses a few days ago.
and rumor has it that some people work on the game ;)

Rob: he he they're not adding methanol because it would cause many dead bodies. In order to get rid of the purple dye you'll need to use sponge but they say that loaf of bread does the job better :).
Of course I'm kidding but that was a common drink in socialistic Poland.

hmm, nice http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denatonium :)
Ok the first trailer of Avatar is here. $ 300 million movie
1st one in 12 years by James Cameron (maker of aliens, the abyss,
Terminator 2 and Titanic)
Also I think this is the first movie which has a game 'look and feel'
(just see the trailer and you know what I mean here)
Effects looks awesome though!

p.s. Imagine seeing this entire movie in 3d in the cinema
could be fantastic if done right.

so you just reanimated a dead topic for advertising your own taste for some shit, let alone the mentioned thing has nothing to do with the topic in question as it isn't "the other 3D". oh and also, the visuals don't even look half non-CG... they could have hired bungie and asked them to make a demo using halo codebase, instead of pouring money on this.
The movie was (still is?) on many people's must watch list for at least a year or two and was proclaimed to be a 'game changer' for jumping beyond the uncanny valley and presenting a 3d movie experience unlike any other.
Considering who's behind the project, how much money they've spend and what they have done to make it happen (new cam systems, with virtual realtime preview etc.), it really looks underwhelming to me.

you cant really say that with a straight face, can you.
What do you mean? Have you read all the anticipation pieces and interviews etc., it's pretty much what they set out to do (among other things, mainly meant to streamline the process to make such movies).
And it's not like they failed. The humans do look pretty good. It's just the cartoon-y aliens that throw me off a little.

oh, the humans are models to?
then i'd ask whey they fucked up with the aliens... they look anime...

I think humans aren't meshes, if they are, that's one fine damn job.
Wow. I'm so disapointed with that trailer. It looks like a fucking kid's cartoon... I was expecting a comeback from the guy that did Alien, and Terminator 2! :(
has anyone been watching the other threads. the aliens have been watching theirselves in our human movies and haven't been around much. so, there isn't a whole lot to go off of these days.
I don't know about the movie, but regarding the human characters it seems like they finally jumped over the uncanny valley indeed. Wow, I never though they would do it that early as 2009.
the human characters were live action
but hey, it's kinda cool that you can be deceived the other way around too - they tell you it's CG and you believe it without questioning :)
iq drank the Hollywood kool-aid. :)
I'd like to have a look at the trailer, but I can't figure out how to download it or even watch it without installing that huge pile of shit that is QuickTime. The usual "wget http://movies.apple.com/movies/fox/avatar/avatar2009aug0820a-tsr_h720p.mov" approach doesn't seem to work -- any ideas?
they are real humans? oohhhhhhhhhh :(
keyj: fake the useragent to quicktime ;)
I tried that too, but it seems that they're checking for some other headers as well :(
Oh, never mind. I just had a typo in my user agent string, the download works now.
