guys, do you want the demoscene to have its own Razzie Awards next to the Scene.org Awards ? to celebrate the worst prods of the finishing year ?

besides the glorious title of the Worst Demo of the Year there could be Worst 64k, Worst 4k, Worst Animation, Worst Effect, Worst Soundtrack, Worst Graphics and Worst Diskmag (uh) !

imho, NextEmpire Awards should be given to EPIC FAILURE prods, those who do *achieve* something so bad that it's funny! a prod without much less work or without anything 'big' on screen shoudn't be rewarded.

for example i had a crush on Cintia by Cortex Corp : so cheap/ambitious/naive, i liked it a lot, it would have proudly deserved a NextEmpire Award in 2007 !

just so you know, i personally am lame & lazy enough (i'm struggling to release any big prod) so that i feel some sympathy towards those forgotten outcasts and i honestly hope that their authors won't be offended and would gladly take those awards as the legit recognition of their 'different' gifts :D

we tried this with the kewlie awards some years ago. we had to stop our jury activities when our eyes burned out and brains turned to mush after watching only about 1/5 of demos released at parties during that year. the experience was horrible and scarred us for life.

You should nominate some of my releases (like the zerobytes) and then I will refer this to my CV.

gargaj: i'm getting a bit tired of having to justify my personal background whenever i start a thread : in this scene i did release with friends some cracktros, a few mp3, a wild, sometimes under a different nickname, i did attend some memorable (at least for me) parties in france and abroad in 2002-04-08, and i did code a script for pouet, submit prods to the database, translate a french wild... nothing leet ; now who really cares ? can't the scene finally be open and open-minded ?

for example zoom pointed out a mighty winner candidate (hehe) but as far as i've understood the LegendgrafiX dude 'retired' because of the blockade he's usually received : it was probably justified but honestly i'm sad you disqualified his last entry at function 08, couldn't you just help him to reduce its size ?

the demoscene wouldn't be the fun scene we love without such a hardworking guy, without next empire & rush hour, without the hordes of tasteless cracktros and failed prods.
