ile: agreed!! ;-)
I also doubt that the big screen will be showing action all the time...so there would certainly a chance to either 'repeat' the demo show on the next day again...or to 'switch days' with any other big screen fun-event (not compo of course!)

Hmm...just a lame excuse from the MS orgas...! ;-DDDDDDD

90% of bigscreen time is probably reserved for ads :P

robotriot: Probably yes when it's ASM or TP, but not at Mekka :-)

Styx: Platipus isn't running with my configuration (probably Win2k is the reason)

To all Crystal Dreams II lovers: It's not running anymore, so I can't show it!

fox: You are completly right with this playing demos from the past thingy, that's a reason why I began with demoshows in summer '99 :-)

In the show yet: Broadband/T-Rex, Shad/Cocoon & Syndrome, Saint/Halcyon + DaJormas, Hplus/Halcyon, te-2rb/Tpolm, 303/Acme, Machines of Madness/Dubius

High Pririority: Nature v2.0/Three Pixels, Hyperventilation/Byterapers, Robotnik/Rage PC, Propaganda/INF, Stuff/Xtacy

too bad the mekka demoshow can't be doen WOEST style... we had 2 pc's (1 windows and 1 dos) and everyone was free to start any demo the wanted to. :)

okok. i might have sneaked in Square/Pulse 1 too many times, but then again... you can't get enough of a good thing ;)

like, last year there was "feeling dirty showers are open" signs while everyone was just sitting there waiting for something to happen.. you could just aswell play demos in the mean time..

totally out of the subject: why do so many ppl like squeezed? seemed just like another 3d demo to me..

Any SERIOUS reason to kick one of the above named demos? I will probably test-run the stuff to see how many time these demos will need and how many time is left for more stuff.
added on the 2002-03-07 23:37:08 by Crest Crest
Result after test-running the above stuff: 50 minutes used (including reboot to Win2k), ~10 minutes or 2 demos left.

ok, if you have 10 minutes (2 demos) left, i have some extraordinary (more rare) suggestions for you:

jamm r.: birdcage (dh99 64k)
eufrosyne: timezone +13:00 (juhIVb demo)
pulp (asm95 wild demo)
u.f.o project (orange & nooon super project)

feel free to second me, pals. :)

Okay, on the timetable: in the current "beta" version of the timetable, we have events atleast once per hour from Saturday 14:00 to Sunday 02:00 and then again Sunday 11:00 to Monday 02:30, and IMHO there is no point in having something happening on the bigscreen every single free minute - parties are not only meant to watch demos and show compos, but also to meet (and talk with) people and work on releases. The blank times last year where mostly caused by the overwhelming number of entries which caused quite some problems concerning scheduling - we simply don't have enough equipment to record everything in parallel, and preselection of music/graphics takes time too. For the same reasons, we usually don't have fast/surprise compos for graphics and musics - preselection takes time, playing the entries takes time, and usually, there are atleast as many people annoyed by such compos as people who like it.

Besides, IF there is free space in the timetable, we DO use it, though we avoid trying to clutter it up too much. Take last years 2nd reality, hybris/NEMESIS wild and Atari Falcon shows for example. I think that's easily enough happening on the bigscreen for a demoparty - we're not a 3 days nonstop cinema, after all.

melw: timezone +13:00 is a quite good idea and pulp, too. I have even the old asmpeg player for dos available because it's actually the only known player that can play the stuff with sound and in the correct speed. Pulp is also quite short, so there is still space for one intro/demo.

216: message from the cosmic brothers is quite interesting, but at least not really impressive from todays view...

crest, hmm if you have gus pulp should play with correct speed no matter what computer you have. only problem's i've had with it have been with sblaster but i guess you have a computer with gus for the demoshow anyways... pulp is after all just a dp2 animation with some soundeffects, so there should be no synching issues.

melw: I'm probably using the ASMPEG player that was coming at that time for playing the ASM'95 wild stuff. And it works very nice.

For the last demo I'm actually thinking about Stuff/Xtacy, The Nonstop Ibiza Experience/Orange or Propaganda/INF. Ambience is nice in Stuff, but Nonstop Ibiza Experience is very cool & stylish while Propaganda is another of those energetic demos.

you are forgetting energia crest.
hell, 1 hour is barely enough to show 2001 demos..
mekka orgas: this is plain silly!
im gonna complain heavily if the bigscreen is just sitting there afterwards. fuck people trying to sleep. play demos! (and intros) use dead time.

ps: no.
I totally agree, that demoparties should not only consist of a timetable using every bit of free time. it isn't really that funny, when you just started talking with your friends or listening to music, and immediately again another event starts, most likely saying "please turn down audio and lights".
are we consumers or demoparty visitors ? =)
demoshow is cool, 1 hour enough

Play some of these:

Orange: You Am I You Am The Robot
Jamm: Nation Zero
Shock: Angeldust
Chrome: Plastik
Pulse: Sunflower
Byterapers: Hyperventilation

(all MS-DOS of course)

if the stuff showing on screen is not of your interest you can skip it and go outside chat abit or take a nap.
how many chances do you have of seeing good old prods on big screen/speakers?

ps: energia is especially in the middle part sometimes more a slideshow than a demo on my pIII-450 and with 'zilog' there is another very nice sunflower demo in the show.

So the following stuff will be shown: Broadband/T-Rex, Shad/Cocoon & Syndrome, Saint/Halcyon + DaJormas, Hplus/Halcyon, te-2rb/Tpolm, 303/Acme, Machines of Madness/Dubius, Hyperventilation/Byterapers, Zilog/Sunflower, TimeZone +13:00/Eufrosyne, Pulp, Propaganda/INF

It will begin with Pulp (Oldest prod. in the show) and end with Propaganda (a loud and energetic end and also at least one prod. from Mekka/Symposium). But it's some time until Mekka begins and so I'm still open for SERIOUS arguments against some demo and a good replacement (DOS demo should replace DOS demo and same with Windows stuff).
Actually the years 1995 til 2001 are covered with the show, not so bad ;-). For me personally there is not really very much unshowed stuff in the show, but the selection is quite nice. Not to mainstream imo, but also not to abstract.
