I'm not sure why everyone seems to be so 'anti-IQ'.

Considering all the crap attributes people seem to value today, I think it would be better if intelligence rated higher!

I think a lot of the people i respect here will have a high iq, but without all the bullshit that makes some people believe such things are important.

That applies to all kinds of 'self-promotion'. If you go around boasting about some attribute be it your high IQ or that you can benchpress 500 pounds or whatever, people will be fed up.

For me, trying to measure intelligence is as dull as trying to measure beauty.
With one difference: They use three variables for top models' bodies and only one for the intelligence! So, perhaps the Miss Universe competition has more scientific value!

ham: Sure, a properly administrated IQ test can show the general level of logic thinking and pattern recognition etc.
If one person scores 120 on such a test and another person scores 80, it is probably a safe bet that the first person will be better suited for some tasks.

Yes, the only thing a high IQ, in itself proves, is that you're suited to carrying our routine, systematic tasks. It certainly doesn't say anything about your creativity and ability to actually THINK and apply principles to unknowns. On the same level as a robot.

IQ is pretty useless by itself. Where's the measure of wisdom, intuition and emotional intellect? All of which are NECESSARY for true wholistic "intelligence".

Everyone is intelligent, but its spread in different fields. I may be intelligent for something you are not, and you may be intelligent for something I'm not. That doesn't make me or you more intelligent.
