I've been wondering why people reproduce. So I would like to ask the parents in this forum why they decided to have children. Or was it just an accident, which would be understandable?

I'd say it is a response to the fear of dying. It ends up being a way to leave a bit of yourself here that hopefully will outlive you. It is also caused by family pressure

...and accidents.

It's something you'd understand as soon as you'll go with a girl.

When you're in a couple, you want to build a home, a family, together with your loved one.
And, the same way you've been born yourself, you aim to give that chance to a new little one.

I guess that's in our genes.

- To empty one's ball.
- To not live surrounded with old fossils. old people terribly suck, even for old people.
- Kids are fun.

Don't forget that one of the magic of sexual reproduction is that it allows a population to grow *OR* to get shorter ( by just having a child per couple, do I have to explain that ? and it's not malthusianism, you get rid of no one.). Continuing a species doesn't imply to grow it.

There are many reasons. Of why people reproduce or why people are getting married. And the one I hate is the one that says that everybody does it and so you should do. Everybody is making a family but not everybody knows how to be a good parent. I don't even know how much I will suck as a parent. One way to learn it is to reproduce. So maybe like 10 years after the time I wrote this, when I will be finished with the demoscene and other current dreams, I'd say it's time to grow up, get a girl and try it out. I am really curious to observe how I would be as a parent but not willing to do or don't know the reason for it. I will know in the future :P

People reproduce because their ancestors did it.
