I really dont see the relevance of this question. All it does is making the gap bigger and the acceptance smaller.. I would rather there was no separation at all :/

There is a seperation?

Also I guess this is not much different than sceners seeking fellow sceners in the same city, country or whatever.

Do Icount as a female demoscener?
puryx: among some people, yes, there is a separation. meaning that they have problems accepting females as "fullworthy sceners.." which is something i am damn tired of hearing, and constantly drawing focus to the topic doesnt help..

in my opinion, the difference with people from city x asking about others from city x is that normally that doesnt end up as "people from city x arent sceners anyway" ..

weird - the thing with females "not being equal sceners" has NEVER reached my attention. Too bad if it is so, though.

The only thing that matters to me (yes, this is stating the obvious) is the quality of what people release.

girls are like amigas.
like
" - oh fuck this demo sucks and is boring
- but its made on an amiga/by a girl
- oh shit then its good I guess!"

its all about scenewhores and ugly outcasts the society rejected already back in primaryschool.

The only separation that exists is between people who release stuff and people who don't. I guess faith is interested in finding out if "scenegirls" are just hangarounds or actually make something themselves, which in itself is relevant if you're a scenegirl I guess.

..and to answer the question: D'arcy / Excess has released plenty of graphics (five GFX compo entries I believe), and contributed to a lot of demos (six or seven if I remember correctly).

gloom: the day everyone starts asking the same questions about boys in the same way i will agree there is no separation :)

.. and with that i meant that as far as i have experienced, theres still only the girls that get the "hangaround" word attached if they havent made a production (that everyone likes)

leia: The same question IS asked about male sceners, the only exception is that it happens all the time, which is why nobody reacts to it. Some people (boys or girls) are active, but many are not.

oh, not quite right, I see a lot "hangaround" boys at demoscene partys :).
And i hope, not very body likes my entrys..I'm not a mainstreamer.
Hangarounds complete our audience, which we need.

leia: call me reactionary but the day women will get the very same equal treatment as men will be a boring day... egality of rights, yes and of course! but there are some natural and cultural differences that can't be denied and that finally make life spicier :p

most modern women don't declare themselves as feminists anymore, that's for a reason.

faith: Make sure you attend tUM, as my gf and I (it's mainly her thing/idea actually) have something in the making.

now that was more than obvious, wasn't it. :)

and havoc - is manou involved in the scene? basically she lives around the corner, never heard of her scene-wise next to the bits she does on stage tho.

I am very often asked "what it actually is that i do", a question I feel is equally valid for sceneboys and scenegirls.

Of course, I have absolutely no qualms in admitting that I have contributed fuck all of value to the demoscene, thus making me emblematic of glooms definition. He can be the ying, if im the yang, if you wish.

Funny thing is that it was YOU who brought up this point, not anyone else :)

Anyway, how about:

* Fashion/Vacuum/FR of course - responsible for the infamous FR logo and did graphics for various Vacuum prods, also Breakpoint organizer and quite a constant source of scene relate imagery
* Maxie/Ümlaüt design, coder(http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=31004) and never tiring Function infodesk angel (and a pretty cool Budapest tourist guide *g*)
* Delilah/SKiM, graphician (with lots of party entries in the last years tho she shamefully almost never shows up anywhere), main organizer of Horde in Italy, and could even code if she wanted to.
* Blue/Neoscientists, coder with strange attraction to fucked up hardware platforms such as PS2 (http://www.pouet.net/groups.php?which=4008)

.. and many more, or so I've heard :)

@leijaa
I've never heard anything like what you're saying. And I've never seen any kind of separation between male and females in the demoscene. I hope it's just all in your brain. If it's not, you should change your scener-friends :)

Lluvias compositions was bad or sometimes mediocre, ppl liked her because she was a girl and radix (the ugliest boy on the swedish scene?) wanted to fuck her. was so cute. really... I mean, how else did she get into tpolm?

btw, leia, I have never seen any release by you exept for 4000 pictures of you drinking beer on slengpung.

the best effort made by girls in the scene is party-organising. credit where its due.
