I want to shit more bricks.

category: general [glöplog]
cube 1 is alright. other cubes suck.
saw saga boring.
hostel is plain and opaque shit.

Chan-wook Park (Old boy, Mr/Lady Vengeance) stuff is kind of violent/horror stuff, nicely done.

Also, I remember Takashi Miike's Audition being quite scary and tense.

but the third part was so fucking ridiculous considering contrived plot twists that i expected Jigsaw to go "I am your father" any time

Totally agree. It seemed the whole movie was just working towards the trademark twist. In fact, Saw 3 was pretty awful overall. Typical example of movie makers thinking that sequels should be bigger, more elaborate and more in your face than the previous movie.

Cube 2 was made by mathematicians smoking dope. Interesting idea but not a very good movie.

the original texas chainsaw massacre from 74!

"Despite the complete lack of gore or extreme physical violence, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre continues to horrify and holds up the countless, shot-on-video, slasher clones of subsequent years for the puerile crap that they truly are. Whether by accident or design, this one is a classic."

shitting bricks without blood/silly gore is awesome!!

also:

Ju-on: The Grudge

and don't even think about watching the american remake or the shitty remakes of TCM!

Finding pale kids in your bed sounding like cats will make you shit an appartment building.

I liked [Rec]. Seems like hollywood will do another bad remake though...

Someone mentioned Jacobs Ladder, I can only recommend it.
And maybe Session 9, if you like to be scared by other things than gore alone :)
Night of the Living Dead (public domain in US of A)

they had to..

"After viewing a portion of this film, actor Charlie Sheen was convinced the murder depicted was genuine and contacted the MPAA, who then contacted the FBI. FBI agent Dan Codling informed them that the FBI and the Japanese authorities were already investigating the film makers, who were forced to prove that the special effects were indeed fake"

That reminds me of Cannibal Holocaust, an infamous italian exploitation flick.

Quote:
The film was confiscated ten days after premiering in Milan and Deodato was arrested. The courts believed not only that the four actors portraying the missing film crew were killed for the camera, but that the actress in the impalement scene was actually skewered in such a manner. To make matters worse for Deodato, the actors had signed contracts with him and the producers ensuring that they would not appear in any type of media, motion pictures or commercials for one year after the film's release in order to promote the idea that the film was truly the recovered footage of missing documentarians. Thus, when Deodato claimed that he had not killed the group, questions arose as to why the actors were in no other media if they were alive.

Fear seems to be as subjective as humour. I've never found Battle Royale in the least scary - I'm rather shocked anyone does. I agree with Trace about Audition though which I found hard to watch. I'll go against the "hey heers an obscure film I can brag about" tren in this thread and say Descent did it for me - very hard to watch alone in the dark (the first time).

The first time you watch BR having no clue about what it is all about and are just expecting yet another weirdos japanese flick, I think it's quite scary when the real action start suddently :)
auld, the decent was indeed pretty scary (and that from my sicko mind..) it felt very claustrophobic + it had some great gore.

watched midnight meat train yesterday, and it sucked, after 15 minutes u could already predict the ending, but the gore was kinda nice (lotsa fleshhooks :)

Audition hard to watch? ok it had some creepy elements here and there and the ending was just fucking great, too bad of the sleep indulging hour and a half that went infront of it. mad Mikke takashi has made some trully awesome flicks though, i could recommend Visitor Q (necrophillia and breastmilking) Dead or alive series (gay yakuza and mechs with giant penisses) and even the world famous ichi the killer, or a gem like Gozu from this twisted sick ass jap director., also one japanese titel that really made me creep out was HAZE

And now im about to pop Feast II:Sloppy seconds for having a great laugh with tons of gore.

On youtube, there is a twisted collection of short brainfucking movies. Mentally Disturbing Some parts are quite repetitive, but still great experience. But somebody could call this shit.

A friend told me that The Descent is a very scary film but I haven't watched it (yet).

Oh btw. I really like Saw but the successors are all pretty crappy. Maybe Hannibal series is also worth a recommendation even though the movies are not that scary, they have a very intense atmosphere.
