okkie its made for the fans, not for posers as hideo said himself :D
best mgs ever.
exactly- played it through on saturday..wow..bomb !
There is a interview somewhere in the interwebz with kojima whining about blu-ray lack of space for more content in MGS4, i think he needs to be presented to demoscene 4K.
"Insert disc 2" ?

but goddamn is it a lot of cutscenes with some gameplay here and there.
Reminds me of MGS2
"Insert disc 2" ?
nah. it runs 20-min installation for each chapter. yes, that means another 20 mins if you load a savegame from another chapter

say what? it's exactly 3 minutes (as stated on the screen and on my watch) for each chapter, not 20.
Still I think it ruins the game. What happened to streaming? CURRENT GEN SUFFERS FROM LOW FRAMERATES AND POOR RESOLUTION!
MotorStorm ?
Gamers sure love their side by sides...
"Hi,
i want a demo with graphics in this quality-level. Amazing!!!!! Respect to Hideo Kojima and his team.
Maybe a Debris2? :)"
I think you obviously missed the whole point of Debris with a comment like that.

Strange! I thought the mgs4 graphics were good but not amazing, but seeing them next to crysis they look way better even if the quality isn't as high.
xernobyl u troll :) dont forget to mention it'll cost u about a 4 ps3's to play crysis on that detail :)
psionice: "way better"?
kb: funny, but it missed the whole 'lets make it shiny' thing. There's nothing better than a game where everything is just a bit too shiny, including the people :)
Seriously though, it's the art that makes MGS4 look way better than crysis for me. Crysis looks very gamey, while mgs looks more filmy.

psonice: but gamers want to play, not to watch a film :p
"Today, 'realism' means everything has been put through a used coffee filter."
Humm actually i have been using the same bloom effect for last two demos, in all the damn scenes, i think it's time to change a bit :P
whats that thing with realism anyway. ok i'm just an old fart complaining, but if you want real, sign up and go to afghanistan. or, if war isnt your thing, take a walk. rent a canoe. buy a trampoline.
am i the only one here who thinks graphics is cool if it's all fucked up or weird or special or disco or pretty, rather than realistic and/or shiny?

the real world isn't shiny.
i think MGS4 spent all its budget on cutscenes, so nothing was left for colors...
i think the colours (or lack of) make it better. It's like instead of making stuff look as realistic as possible, they made a fairly realistic but heavily stylised world, and somehow that's more successful in it's way than crysis - hence i think mgs looks better, despite it probably not being technically better in any way.
skrebbel:real world doesn't have T-REX machine ;)
about all this bloom:
more realistic isn't always better. an example:
remember that dvd films run at 25 fps. the 'motion blur' artifacts of the frame pull-down give it a blurry appearance which for most viewers spells the word 'cinema'. some directors even commented that 50 fps looks too much like a handycam.

reminds me of some cool post that doom made earlier somewhere about painting vs photography and which is more realistic.
