Just found this link on amiganews.de. It's been posted two days ago, but since no one seems to have mentioned it here...
Maybe someone here still remembers that guy?

RAW STORY's investigation reveals the California GOP has put an alleged pirate in charge of its treasure trove.
Arrrrr!
Quote:
Strider, who worked in a game store and would "borrow" new games to take home and crack, was one of the very best.
Arrr arrr matie of the infamous business of piracy!

All hands on deck!Currently active sections are the C64 demo section and the PC demo section.

A pirate never abandons the his booty. After moving to San Diego, Strider was asked in an interview if he had any regrets about his hacking days.
“No,” he replied.

Ararararararara :DIn March, U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey met with software and entertainment industry executives in California, warning that huge profits generated from intellectual property crimes including piracy are fostering terrorism: "Criminal syndicates, and in some cases even terrorist groups, view IP crime as a lucrative business and see it as a low-risk way to fund other activities.
It seems that the pirate ship Fairlight is even more powerful than the ghost ship Anonymous.
Apparently he was part of West Coast Crackers [WCC] too.
It's pretty cool that he's got coding skills and could get things done. As for leaving a socializing Sweden to be a Republican in the US, perhaps he believes that an enemy of his enemy is his friend.. let's see how that works for him.

bigcheese: He was always a republican at heart, even before leaving "socialist" Sweden.
I would like to resign my position from the chairman of republican party. I would like to send big fuckings to defacto2.net and c64scene.org for ruining my name!
Sigh, stop the press. Although I confess I've been wondering when one of the numerous former pirates currently in high publicity positions gets "exposed".. It's still funny to read such "secrets" "revelaled" when anyone could've googled them for years.
Too bad these sensationalist geeks missed his nazi past ;)

getting funnier by the minute :)
The story continues... http://rawstory.com/news/2008/San_Diego_GOP_chairman_Part_2_0430.html
Ouch that second part :D
I just hope the demoscene will not get bad publicity over this. There'll be a bunch of Americans googling and trying to dig up more dirt, and we might get hit in the process.

is RAW the FOX NEWS of the internet?
preacher: the demoscene is never mentioned anywhere, the only demo i can see in the article are crats.
gargaj: very true, however googling for Fairlight is a very different story.
Bad publicity for the demoscene? In the moment those American googlers come across "The Demoscene TM powered by Intel and NVidia" type sites they'll probably figure out that "the pirates" are not in charge of the demo scene ship or that "the scene" is an instrument in the building of the new world order...
Well, of course, there's the basic aspect that occurs in anything when talking about past: once a crook, always a crook. So we must all be apart of the international warez scene.

There's only one reference to demos in the first article.
Seriously, aren't there laws about separation of the political power and the religious power?
Let me guess... he is bad because he treats homos as normal ppl?

Even before revelations of piracy, Krvaric has drawn criticism from Christian conservatives for his stances on other issues, including flag burning and homosexuality.

Most groups during the C64 highlight era (when it was new) was also cracker groups right? It's hard to mention demos from that period and not speak of cracks.
Cracktros are not cracks.
El Topo: Yep that was the situation twenty years ago, but how many of today's demo groups are also cracker groups? So it would be quite hard to hit a blow towards demo scene, because of C64 highlight era. And would someone even care about that?
zefyros: Well, when new Fairlight releases end up next to farbrausch and mfx in the charts few non sceners will be able to make the distinction I think...

a smear campaign always works, because most people don't even read the article carefully, let alone do a fact check. you can even refer to facts that put your statements in a different light, since no one will look up them.
it's funny e.g. how they mention that some of his co-workers at the consultant company were found guilty. like, "you work for mcdonalds, some mcdonalds employees spit in the sandwitches, so you're probably spitting in the sandwitches" ...brilliant logic, isn't it?
