Actually there was matter before the Big Bang, according to the Big Bang Theory. I'm more a fan of the Big Bang/Big Crunch theory... the ciclic one... the universe expands till a maximum, then it shrinks, then it grows back again...
But according to studies the universe is still expanding.

Hmmm there appears to be an internet blackhole in England, just about where my parents live. You know, that explains a lot about where I was brought up.
