I'm not sure if anyone's said this already, but this is MASSIVE publicity for that tinpot little record label. HUGE. ENORMOUS. GIGANTIC. Well, it could be. Especially if they do the usual whore routine on the US indie press circuit. "LOOKT AT US! You haven't heard of us, but WE HAS AN SCANDLE!!! LULZ!"

if i ran mushpot, i'd try to get some ym rockerz musicdisks out on press. they truly are awesome, and apparently it sells well enough :)

It's nice to see that the guy admits his thievery.
But hopefully he also means what he says, that's something you cannot know unless you're face to face.

holy shit, the guys are not only wankers, they are religious wankers... that explains the stupidity. Read the robot cowboy appology, he talks about deamons. haha... oh humanity.
added on the 2008-04-02 00:32:23 by Dubmood Dubmood
haha and his own appology was such a bunch of overdramatique over-played bullshit that I stopped reading. Less selfdistanced personalities is to search hard for.

maybe this is all an april fools joke. haha. ;x

okay, lets forget that fool now. :) what really could be cool though, if that label would bring out a compilation with the REALLY credited chipmusicians, properly licensing the tracks of course and so on. i think it would be a nice gesture from the label - and the now-victim musicians should not channel the anger on the label anyway.

i would like to see that. it could be a big hit, if apparently in the US there is a crowd for that kind of music. and why not giving them the REAL deal and the REAL names, now that this imposter is dismantled?

also, what's very uplifting to see - from the timbalame case over different others to this one - is that the scene as a collective is strong and ready to fight for the rights of their single members when their intellectual property is abused.

dipswitch, whether they'd chose to release such a compilation would reveal whether they consider the music releasable as such or if there are a lot more extraneous factors such as who made it.

I just used Little Bitchard's music in a school film project. Am I a bad person?

Did you ask LB? Did you credit him? If yes to both, then no, you're not a bad person. :)

well then let's overcome that difference. i propose that dma-sc buys designer glasses and then makes a youtube video where he explains all about chiptunes! as long as the americans wont think he's from quebec it's gonna be an instant win!

Where is the robot cowboy apology? i can only find the laromlab one.

BTW, pretty funny watching the youtube videos of laromlab, with his amazing Atari ST which is even older than his 2600!
added on the 2008-04-02 09:49:59 by xeron xeron
yeah why didnt he even get his facts right?

btw I never heard of any atari2600 musicians, are there?

Xeron here it is, but i dont understand why dubmood would be pissed of at him, he apprently didnt do anything other than being scammed.

My name is Dan Wilcox and I accompanied Brandon Harrod, known as Laromlab, on the Consoles Afire Tour from Jan - Mar 08. This news is shocking to me. I had no idea Brandon’s latest self-titled Laromlab album was stolen from the chiptunes and demo scene in Europe. They have graciously shared their music and software and he decided to pass it off as his own. I will never condone such flagrant plagiarism. I call for him to make a public apology so as not to taint the reputations of his label and associated musicians such as myself and to acknowledge the work of the original artists.

As I distance my reputation from Brandon, I would also like state that I do not distance my friendship. He has made a very bad decision and he will deal with its just consequences. I feel no anger, only disappointment in my friend. He is a good human being with a kind heart and he is better then this. I hope that Brandon will do the right thing and come to terms with whatever demons drove him to plagiarize the works of others. I also hope that all parties involved would seek a peaceful resolution to this matter.

Thank You,
Dan Wilcox

lol oh yeah thats right. Looking at that map it doesnt look too shabby tho, i would think that its the same in denmark, perhaps less than half that as we werent smart enough not to get suckered in to a war by these people. So who is the dumber, the sucker, or the sucker fooled by him.
added on the 2008-04-02 11:53:25 by NoahR NoahR
I think that's just one of the many fake "Americans are stupid"-maps on the net. :)

dubmood: His apology seems sincere enough -- why don't you try to turn this into something positive, and get in contact with the people who wanted to take "Laromlab" places?

Laromlab deserves all the shit that'll be flying at him right now. He's even trying to hide the fact that he's a fucking douchebag by taking a "pathetic loser" stance in his apology.

Don't pity the fool!
added on the 2008-04-02 14:10:05 by linde linde
so what would have been a better response than "i am a pathetic loser"? "yeah, i did it. i was caught. shit happens"? or maybe just "i am a douchebag".

Mind you i'm not sure pathetic loser and douchebag are necessarily mutually exclusive.
