May I remind you that Breakpoint 2008 also had dogs?

coming from someone who had to wait 3 hours for the poles to pass out before managing to fall asleep on thursday night: if you want a proper rest you should really get an hotel room. or get more wasted right before, or engage in a conversation with an uber geek, or use the earplugs, or pick your sleeping corner near the beamteam, or all of the above.

ah yes, but not *stray* dogs..

stray dogs inside the university, and not just any university but the most central one, historically the most famous in the whole country.

Anyway, I like stray dogs, but I'd rather not meet them inside uni labs and lecture theatres..

I think they played good music. But I was dissapointed they had never heard about Jeff Mills.
But they were cool and played several rno-records tracks, and the Norwegian Punkrock track "BRUTAL AGAINST SHIT". So we where happy.
Also they usually turned down the music when something was on the bigscreen or anoncements.
I defenently perfer loud music to intense snooring. Its the worst noise ever.

I never think I've had more fun at a party than this years BP. Everything was great (except the weather). Maybe I went abit overboard with screaming and acting like a ADHD 12 year old at times...but heey, its partytime. Sorry if I offenden anyone ;)

I find it somehow disturbing to be lumped together like this. Your attitude towards this is quite biased, dont you think? Btw ... we actually had a guy coming over asking us (Brullwurfel) to turn it down ... as a result he was invited to a beer causing him to sit down with us listening to music for another half an hour. Then he left and said: "Whatever ... play on!" :-)

And yes ... actually we warned everybody that sat down in our neighbourhood (2 rows in distance) that we intend to get loud. So fair deal imo.

@ sleeping: the earplugs were good, and sleeping in the car is always an option ;)

sleeping in your car prevents car (radio) theft :P

muh, my attitude is straight and not biased: imho you should SHUT THE FUCK UP and let ppl sleep atleast from 3:00-9:00. having a good sleep for some hundreds ppl is more important than your fun imho.

Whatever i dont wanna break down into a discussion any further. So to make it short: We did respect the sleeping hours. Actually i slept from 4:00 to 11:00 every fucking day of that party without any probs. Some turning around, thats been it.
Btw: This one was exclusively build for BP08. Carrying it into the hall some orgas took a glance on it ... there comment has been: "Respect!" =) We also had an SU-V670 giving up in vian =*(
So lets shake hands please ... next time we might catch one another on a better foot ... or you just bust your butt over telling us what the heck your concern is (can be fun, i promise!! xD). 7 days later on pouet nobody actually gives a damn.

i have nothing against polish guys. or noise. i only had trouble falling asleep the 1st day. and just because of the floor.

well I have solution for that:
- start way too late with your prods (I mean the whole crew)
- spot your deadlines at Sat. 10:00 a.m. and 14:00 p.m.
- deal with broken upload streams of tHE Partymeist0r
- have a fella on the opposite table first whining about broken gfx board
- then yelling and cursing about that specific piece of hardware
- then ripping the thing out of the tower, yelling at it
- then smashing it to pieces on the table ... still ranting
-...and last not least boisterously searching for his Arschkissen
while you tried to fix the weirdest bugs...
:D that'll keep you going through the 1st night for sure

compared to some parties i was at in mid 90s breakpoint was quiet as a library.

and crappy techno is always better than snoring if one wants to sleep. :)

Ho and...
I wanted to mention this girl I didn't know who instantly pointed myself as a french dood only by hearing my accent... she obviously never spoke to any other french sceners and I think that many sceners could say so.

@nosfe: you obviously never attended any french demoparties, this year breakpoint was STILL louder than them :)

I usually don't mind really loud ska at 3 in the morning, as long it doesn't bothers my attempt of relaxation and the reanimation of my body before a 14 hours trip to home. But on the other hand, at least I was tired enough in the afternoon to sleep over the long waiting time at the airport. :)
Seriously. Mind you, I was completely OK with the noice on the other nights/mornings, but a full-blood rest before a trip is quite cruical for those who come from far away, especially who are driving a car. So the loud noice around 3 in the morning is actually not so funny/irrelevant for some people...

That actually was NOT that loud compared to the breakpoint edition I attended (03), it was quite cosy and I enjoyed it.

jailbird, did you try them earplugs?

I thought the earplugs were being given out for the music compos. Seriously.

@nosfe: sadly no, since I didn't know that there were free earplugs at the infodesk, I think someone mentioned them to me when I was about to leave the partyplace :)

I was a only bit upset on Monday morning since I had a really nasty sleep thanks to the noisy bunch, was still really tired when I woke up and also stressed out about my long trip to home. But I forgot the whole thing quite fastly. :)

Anyway, I don't want to sound like a whiny bitch, I understand that some guys like to have more excessive fun than the others, but a bit of regard towards those who are worn out or exhausted and would like a bit more peaceful last night wouldn't hurt anyone, right?

Too few baby changing tables at BP! This should be taken care of!

The "You've been warned" approach works sometimes.
I guess it depends on what you can expect at demo parties. I mean, you KNOW there's gonna be guys, who love loud techno and want everybody else to know that they love it... and you KNOW there's gonna be porn 24/7 somewhere on an obscurel looking casemodded PC - but, the world is not static. You have the ability to change things occasionally - you could approach violators and ask them to stop violating whatever they are violating, and most people with a sense of common courtesy woud adhere to such approaches. But then again, there ARE the immature ones that see it as a provocative approach and go like "I'll show him, the bastard!" - you just can't fight those, so take the zen approach and give it up already.
Don't go to demoparties if you expect a good night's sleep or want to be able to compose music in comfortable surroundings.

jaibird, so you didnt pay any attention to the slides going on the bigscreen, as the earplugs were advertised there? :)

anyway, myself i never go to parties without earplugs, they just makes passing out so much easier. the cheapest pairs cost like 30cents, so it isnt a big investment to buy a few pairs and so be sure that when you need them you'll find them.
