MiniMig (Amiga Clone)
category: general [glöplog]
Isn't that the plain old Linux UAE though? As I understand it, WinUAE is, despite the idiotic bugs and stupid UI, way ahead of the other UAE derivatives in both speed (with the JIT compiler) and compatibility (after years of testing and fixes). It'd be a bit annoying to have to revert to what's essentially a really old version of WinUAE in order to run it without Windows. Someone should just take the Windowsness out of it and leave all the funky stuff.
Nope, it's E-UAE, which is a project that aims to be just that, WinUAE without Windowsness..
I've been following this project, but I'm not really interested in getting one, even if it's a cool project. Of course VGA output and SD card reader sounds interesting, but I could get a cheap computer and run WinUAE instead (for the same price).
BTW, the implementations of the custom chips are based on the WinUAE source, I think... So I think you won't get past possible UAE bugs :)
Call me back once we get an amiga-on-pci card!

... for efika or something
Here's a funny idea that I had: one can buy a PS3 for €350 and sell the pad and a possible game for €50, that way you get a great computer, capable of running UAE (:D) for €300 and you even contribute for the downfall of sony. Am I right?
Retail price: starting from EUR 138,00
but... captain!
an A500 boxed with extras at ebay costs only 40 eur !?!

Don't forget mentioning the ROM. You have to add the rom to the €138. It costs €30.
Don't forget to add the local VAT to the price of 138 Euro. So you have to spend 200 Euro for board and kickrom. If it will get AGA support and kind of IDE interface it might be a good play toy but not yet.
Have been talking with Dennis at Codex/Horde aswell, IIRC he talked about having visited Breakpoint one or two times aswell ;)
Did't the guy do a workshop about this at last year's breakpoint?

I guess you mean Jens Schoenfeld and his Clone-A project which is kind of similar to miniMig.
Yeah, that's it. I'll buy the one that costs less than €50 (VAT included!).

Because if you download it you will seriously hinder development of new ROM versions on ECS-based Amigas. That'd be a shame ;)
how good can fpga do that? i don't see if they can really replace a real amiga!

Well, that's it on the Amiga one site, 120squids.
I read it accepts the 3.1 roms, but i'm not sure what it'd do with 1200 specific games/demos.

a machine which could be A500 to A1200-60 and work perfect with all features interesting me !!
USB mass stockage and mouse/keyz instead of the old amiga techs could be cool ^^

794: dream on. minimig is an a500 only. the 68000 could not be synthesised in the FPGA because it's already too complex. it's a great little thing, though.
Yeah, that's right. The FPGA only has the 'miggy custom chips in it, the cpu is still a seperate chip...... Hmm, surely......

A 68k core was recently implemented in a larger FPGA, though. I don't know if it fits in the minimig fpga, but it sure is possible.
www.natami.net <-- even cooler
looks awesome but doesn't it smell an awful lot like vaporware? i mean it's amiga...
project-s (a german project to make a 1 chip atari st) did succeed to get the 68000 inside a spartan fpga. but 68000 is one thing, 68060, a superscalar hardwired cisc, with FPU.. i'd say forget that for the next 10 years or so.
You can always use a €3000 FPGA ;)
Oh, and don't forget the new amigas that were supposedly out last summer ;)
ah i dindn't know the minimig needs a real 68000 to work ^^
Well ... will be cool in several decades so ^^
Anyway i praise the work !!!
