Do you use Windows Vista or Windows XP? (breakpoint thread fork)

category: general [glöplog]
XP Pro all over!

I do flirt with Ubuntu, and even do freaky things like play with Haiku (BeOS Clone) on VMWare.

I would have avoided posting that I use osx, but rather than let folks think that more people use Vista than osX, I'm going to throw my hat in the osX ring.
Ubuntu on laptop, Ubuntu at home. XP occasionally to play games or watch demos.

Vista, and I've already ported my code from d3d9 to d3d10. But because of the Breakpoint rules, I had to return to the old code. And I'm not complaining about it, because the decision by organizers has already been made.
It's rather strange that NVScene has taken the same path of using Windows XP. I thought Nvidia was all about innovation.

imbusy: nvidia was always more on the OpenGL side of things anyway. At least up to the GF4 NV GPUs were practically GL hardware interpreters; eg. all GL constants were given to the GPU 1:1 without having to convert them into some register representation...

kb:but we are already almost 5 gpu generations apart from that

besides, imbusy wasnt even born yet when we used GF4 ;))
imbusy: Considering the state that Vista is in, innovation is pretty useless is no one can see it. OpenGL supports all the touted DX10 features though extensions.

is = if.

kb: even gf8 still use OpenGL constants to drive the 3D engine.

pmdata, maybe.. my days as dev on that one certain console back then where all this information was exposed in the 3D API header file are long gone... but you ppl developing for another certain competitor's current console should perhaps know now ;)

XP, XP, AmigaOS 3.1/3.9, Ubuntu, Occaisonal tinkering with MenuetOS.

I won't touch Vista for several years, if ever unless i HAVE to to be able to play a DX10 game i just can't live without...as highly unlikely as that may be at least for 3 or 4 more years, devs would be fuckarded to not support DX9 still.
