Regarding those wondering why they didn't receive the previous newsletters, here's why:
-------
Ok, we are very sorry, but we've screwed up:
The previous two Breakpoint 2008 newsletter editions have been
sent to the *2007* subscribers list. If you are reading this now,
then you are doing this because you had registered for Breakpoint
2007.
We'll now delete the old list.
In a few moments we'll send out the Breakpoint 2008 newsletter #3
to the real list of 2008's subscribers. If you aren't receiving
another newsletter within the next minutes, then it means you
haven't registered for Breakpoint 2008 yet, and should do so
here:
https://breakpoint.untergrund.net/register.php
(Unless you plan not to attend this year, which would be a shame!)
Again sorry for the inconvenience!

During the last 5 years, the team of volunteers behind Breakpoint has always tried to bring all participants the best possible party experience. Wherever we could, we've done our very best to improve year after year. We've brought seminars, shuttle services, hotel reservations, a gigantic food selection, took party theming to another level and so on...
But hey, we are the demoscene. All this infrastructure stuff is real nice and people love it, but that's not what really counts. What really counts are the releases YOU guys produce. The competitions, the thrill to see your own productions on the bigscreen, with the masses of sceners hopefully appreciating your works. What really counts is to see, hear, experience your productions on the bigscreen, and on the PA. That's the absolute center and focus of our party.
Our sponsors, first of all NVIDIA (who are with us for the first time this year, great to have you on board guys!) and Intel (thanks for your continued believe in us sceners!), enabled us to finally take a big step that we could have not have dreamt to ever have the budgets for until today:
<b>Breakpoint 2008 for the first time in demoparty history will be featuring a gigantic FullHD resolution bigscreen setup</b>. While past Breakpoint editions already were known for having a huge bigscreen, this year we'll top everything seen before. Our bigscreen in the main hall is going to be <b>over 70 square meters</b> in size (16:9, 12 meters wide!), powered by two cinema-grade digital video projectors giving 18000 ANSI lumens each. Next to all competitions will run in <b>FullHD widescreen resolution (1920x1080 pixels)</b>, which is 2.5 times more resolution than before. It will be the brightest, biggest and sharpest bigscreen you've ever seen Demos run on.
It will KICK SOME SERIOUS ASS. :)
For the last few weeks we've worked at getting the required infrastructure - which hasn't been a trivial task due to FullHD video equipment at that level still being rather scarce. But thanks to the help of our new video partners at Satis&Fy, we've managed to replace our video mixing and processing tool chain for all the supported platforms (Amiga, PC, C64, Consoles etc) with a FullHD one.
Now it's up to YOU to fully utilize this opportunity. Make sure your demos and intros use a 16:9 aspect ratio if at all possible to use the maximum available screen space (of course we will also support classical 4:3 entries, but those obviously won't use the full width of the bigscreen). Help us make Breakpoint 2008 the must stunning visual demoscene experience ever!
Our competition team has written detailed explanations for each compo on how this change to FullHD is going to affect the given competition. Please make sure you fully read and understand what this change means for your entry in a given competition!
More information on the FullHD compos: http://breakpoint.untergrund.net/compos.php
Our beam team's main organizer KB has written a nice summary on what to do to make sure your production looks great on our bigscreen - this is a must-read for everyone working on visual productions: http://breakpoint.untergrund.net/miscbigscreen.php
