Which is the best C64 emulator?
category: general [glöplog]
a little off the topic, but i remember another demo featuring b/w square robots like in 1000000 miles away, but simpler effect-wise and sort of a love story i think... anybody know which one i mean? i think it was by triad or maybe fairlight (though it seemed like a typical triad prod to me)
1000000 LIGHTYEARS away! big difference :)
Linde: Would it be this one? http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=4406
I never thought about how much goes into coding and all the complications and little things that need to be considered. It's insane that some of you guys can get your head around all that. It must take a special mind to understand coding and actually want to understand it.
It's easy for us to criticise a demo because it doesn't entertain us or because we have seen something we like more, but every demo is a damn work of genius to a non coder like me!
I take my hat off to you guys! Seriously!

thanks buttler, but that was not it. that one was good, too, though!
i also have trouble judging demos from a coder's standpoint, but for old machines like the c64 i can't but be impressed by how cool stuff people cram out of it.
maybe it's just the idea of it that's most appealing to me about c64 demos; that people are so devoted to a 25 year old computer, learning all the quirks and how to utilize them, and still manage to impress eachother and even me, even though i know very little about the machine

This one? http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=26777
It kicks ass regardless.

thanks! that's the one! it does kick, yes.
Well, I just can't help but think that it would be extremely cool with a prod that was handcoded in asm to work only on Preachers setup, no fucking external drivers, straight to the silicone baby! It might require a decade but then it would be True Jedi. =)
Nice discussion here and I feel almost like I would post off topic stuff but here I go anyway: Did anyone mention Hoxs yet? It's also quite a nice 64 emulator in my opinion. :)
i am on Vice, it's nice on PC but on gp2x abit slow...
There's a version of Frodo for GP2X too, right?
yea, it's really fast, but very incompatible
