Anyway if you ask UK people, UK isn't part of Europe.
The french will say the same!
why would the french say that Uk isnt a part of Europe?
because that's the kind of things they would say.
unless it suits them not to.
Eventually.
what about the pomeranians? (at least they attract girls..)
I'm originally from the states, so I count as one of the North American sceners.
Truck: I'm sorry, but now that you have been properly assimilated for years and years, I am happy to say that you are no more american than I am. ;)
gloom, so that'd make truck the only European republican. yeah that makes sense :)
I've been living in Holland for many, many years, but I'm actually officially from Pennsylvania. Does that make me a US scener?
I'm an active sceners and Canadian, wait until I post my demos on POUET !!
:D
:D
USA.
Whatever.
Whatever.
Most American sceners that I know only work on modern hardware, including the PC and the occasional handheld device. The only group I know with an active oldschool division is Style, and they focus on the C64. I personally do PC demos, and, in fact, my group just finished the invitation demo for North America's only demo party, Blockparty (it will be released at the end of this week).
I think the North American scene is sort of a joke, because we are noisy without being good. I mean, there are probably more pouet threads on North American stuff than any other country or continent, yet we really haven't produced anything worth talking about. Part of the problem is that we are too spread out. For example, the nearest demoscener I know of is over 400 miles away. From what I understand, most European demo groups live close enough together that they can meet each other in real life, and occasionally do fun things like spend a week together in at one house to produce a demo. Here, I am lucky to see other sceners once a year at a demo party. Thus, threads like this are the perfect place to babble with other North Americans.
Eventually, I would like to have the North American demo scene kick ass. Things are better now than they were a few years ago, thanks to the well-organized Blockparty and the tireless demo-making efforts of the Northern Dragons. Trailer Park Demos is active again, and this time we suck a bit less. Plus, there is talk of new groups forming, which is super encouraging.
We need to start releasing really high-quality productions so people can start taking us seriously again. The road to good productions is paved with lots of experience, so get busy! If you are a North American scener and aren't in a group, join one! If your group isn't working on a demo, start one! Blockparty is just around the corner, and I want to see lots of kick-ass demos from you people.

If anyone is around the Portland, Oregon/Southwest Washington area, let me know if you'd like to start an ST demogroup, although I won't count on it :P
Tran was an american, and his eternal awesomeness is worth mentioning. Does anyone have news from him?
why dont you guys create an US/Panamerican demoscene site?
(trivial question ahoy)

s_tec: even in cities where sceners live in same town it can be hard to meet up regularly when you study diferent things and/or work on seperate jobs. most scene group socializing usually occurs via msn/icq or randomly organized bar meets. its more important to have the spiritual connection aflame and time to invest on being creative, not that imperative to meet on a regular basis face to face, even though i would defnitly enjoy alot more to have a local gallery/studio where sceners could just come hang out and co-prod whatever they felt like, it's a work in progress dream of mine to build up such a place atleast.
I've hacked around on Apple ][, Amiga, PlayStation, PC, VCS... Etc. WWW Whatever..
I've been meaning to do something PSX or VCS again, or maybe an Apple ][ creation... just haven't gotten around to it.
[too busy coding for work]

yeah that coding for work disease is a problem.

Maybe true if you only ask retards? Or if you ask some other question, like if we have the euro. Otherwise I think most people know where their own country is here.
Oh, Apple ][ productions? >drools<
I grew up on Apple ][...fondest memories of all.

krang, see if the first few seconds of this PlayStation demo trigger any flashbacks..
Have you seen the handful of Apple ][ cracktros uploaded recently?
