Anyway, he lived a long age and produced an impressive life's work - I hope I can say this about myself when my time is near - and he had more influence than a million Internet trolls combined. Rest in peace.

Did he ever try any more melodious and conventional music. I'm just wondering if he actually COULD or if this stuff he did was a cop out. I mean, if he truly was a talented musician who took a less conventional direction, he would at least be competent at the fundamentals of music.

If you look at Aphex Twin for example. He does his experimental and minimalist stuff but he can also produce really tuneful music too.

I'm starting to realise you guys are not joking about this guy, but I still think he was a hack.

Very academic and clinical approach to music. It shows that he was interested in sound and soundscapes, which he obviously found to be more stimulating and interllectually satisfying than "conventional" music.
