What classic games deserve a Next Gen remake?
category: general [glöplog]
We've seen Prince of Persia remade (and remade very well) and we'll soon have Speedball 2 and Bionic Commando remakes.
What other games deserve to be remade and remarketed to a modern audience?
My wish list goes:
Moonstone - such a fun game that could easily be adapted to a 3d environment, with more weaopons, missions, gore etc.
Monkey Island 1+2 - Same plot and dialogue, just a facelift.
Jaguar XJ220 - a chilled out racing game which allows you to race and take in the scenery at the same time.
Double Dragon - could be amazing in next gen 3d!
Cannon Fodder - Keep the fun and update the graphics.
That'll do for now.

why would a next gen remake necessarily be better?
None.
I want to play the old games as their former authors made them and I want new innovative games instead of boring look-at-my-big-GPU remakes.
A *GOOD* remake of dungeon master could be cool in theory but in practice it would probably be a dull remake without the former appeal.

can't believe they remade Defender of the crown o/
commando Lybia remake please.
the speedball 2 remake looks like a Rape though. the prince of persia remake was VERY well done indeed... im still playing it ffs!
Best 8 euro i ever spend.
on a more serious remake note,
Project Firestart from c64. its the best game EA ever made, and i dont hope DEAD SPACE is their interpretation of it. ;c

The very first game I had on my Amiga was Marble Madness, and two years ago I discovered Rolling Madness which is a very nice remake - true to the original in the sense that the gameplay was very similar.

Liero!
Xernobyl : hmmm no :)
Hyde : Indeed, now a good remake on this one would rock! Especially on Wii with the Wiimote (there is already Mercury Meltdown btw)

4d sports boxing and stunts!
If you are talking about racing game remakes then the Lotus series was great. Double Dragon for sure, Cannon Fodder, Mega-Lo-Mania :) Hmm so many. Rainbow Islands! Shadow of the Beast, The Chaos Engine, Silkworm.
I think there are so many we'd consider classics, i think the charm of some of them would be lost though, i like the Monkey Islands as they still are personally. And i think the style(visual or gameplay) of games like Cannon Fodder may not convert well.
I never got into Dungeon Master much, but my brother and I played the Eye Of the Beholders(number 2 mainly) to death :)

Oh stunts <3
turrican and katakis.. at the current standard.. projects are existing.. but somehow still asleep..
That reminded me Xeron, Stunt Car Racer for sure! I was thinking about side scrolling shooters too like Katakis but there are plenty of remakes of that type.
is this a nostalgia thread ? :)
