It's not the first time it happens to me. Fortunatelly not what happened at other times with almost (at 95%+) finished 20kb emails, but still painful. And the mood drops when you have to rewrite it..

I lost another email almost at the end. The reasons? What's the fucking use of reseting all text when pressing escape inside a text form?! FUSCK!!!

My finger slipped and perhaps it does it unconsciously because we have all got used to matter about Escape during another boring demo. Several times, without really wishing of it, either I press it without knowing or accidentally. And all the huge email text I was writting in any web-email programm is instantly lost! It has happened to me a lot of times (fortunatelly, I usually take care of copying pasting the text in notebook and saving (because I have lost text at crashes or blockout))

It's like the feeling that "InTheBeginningThereWasTheCommandLine" guy said "As it turned out, two different Mac crash recovery utilities were unable to find any trace that my file had ever existed. You can't even scream that. It's so instant and stupid just by the press of Escape, a text to be reseting in a text form. And what the us of this feature anyways? Can anyone explain me???

Also,. something irrelevant, why at hotmail, if I reply on a message in Drafts, the message vanishes??? I can't even find it in Trashcan!!! Vanishing without EVEN asking me. Does "Drafts" mean a special function like that??? :PPPP

(The esc-reset text also happens in any other browser. Seems to be a windows API thing)

Thanks A_Lee_N, videos connected with my silly situations make my mood better. Well,. I laughed but didn't laughed as much as that time I was lost from Pouet and someone posted thedeathofOptimusPrime.mpeg (There I cried out of laughing, especially when it was sooo dramatized at the end when OP really died and the small boy was crying). Those were the funniest moments of my life..

I feel better now. I finished that lost email and then finished two more of 10kb and 7kb and then some more and.. now let's see how much I am gonna pay the netcafe! I would be going to the RZ now but the uni is closed because it's Christmas. Damn Xmas, Tomcat was right! I only go to cheap netcafes at Xmas which doesn't proove cheap and eat Donner Kebap because the regular stores are closed (Uhhmm,.. I would love to have another SchninkenKase but you can't find such a thing in Donnerstores :P). Tomcat is right, Xmas sucks because the inet is not free and you only have to eat dirty food (But I like Donner Teller ;). Haha,. a joke!

I have examined your problem carefully and came with the following solutions which may help you solve it:
a) Periodically mark all your text with Ctrl+A and copy it to the clipboard with Ctrl+C, so that you can 'undo' at any time.
b) find a keyboard which has the ESC key far away so that you can not easily press it.
c) better yet, make a custom keyboard with the ESC key completely independant of the rest of the keyboard. That way, you can hide it whenever you type text in web forms.
d) Always carry a used roll of toilet paper with you in the netcafe. When you type in a web form, you can put the toilet roll around the ESC key making impossible to press it.
e) simply write _smaller_ messages.

I wish you success. Oh, and by the way, the fact that the ESC key resets a web form is actually a W3C standard so it will be rather difficult to change it. It actually works that way on Macs, Linux, practically everything that supports web forms.
