Intro & Maybe looking to join a group

Hey, just saying what's up? I've lurked here before but, just registered today.
I'm 26 and I started programming on a C64 and Amiga when I was 6. I started making my own games and I've coded for a number of platforms including C64, C128, Amiga, Atari, Apple IIe, PC, Gameboy, GBA, Nintendo DS, and Original NES,. I've probably missed some but, I can't remember everything. And Oh, yeah and this awesome program I found called OSDM...(just kiddn') :P
I'm also versed with pretty much any 3D modelling software you can name, photoshop, various pixel editors, have also been dj'ing and making my own music since I was a teenager and am versed with Fast Tracker II, a bunch of other trackers I can't remember, Acid, Fruity Loops, and pretty much any program you edit/create audio on.
I would call myself a retro game and music enthusiast.
I work as a TV Broadcaster for a living, I shoot, interview, and edit my own stuff for major networks/affiliates, the Pentagon, and pretty much world-wide.
I'm not looking for accolades, I'm sure many of you have similar experience or are probably even smarterer than me.
I may be looking for a casual group in the future, with half-decent experience, as I have a fair background but, may need someone to reshow me some of the ropes and get acquainted with the group's style and programming enviroment of choice. I do get rusty from time to time.

where are you from? i can only recommend you attend a demoparty happening close to where you live, always a good place to start to get to know the active folks around your area and maybe present something yourself..

Welcome! Ignore the trolls - they have no life :) I'd add to ps' post - go to a party, or try to find some sceners in your area. Finding someone to work together is the best thing.
I'm from the USA, born in Chicago, usually in California, but currently in Kansas for my job (sigh...)
I have 4 kids too, and don't really have time to attend parties, unless I get really lucky and there happens to be one within a 10-50 mile radius nominally.
Which is why I'd like to hook up with an online group. I suppose I could just start my own 'group' and fire up the old Amiga. :P

coded: first off, don't mind the trolls (even if they're called texel: on pouet, you'll find that the only thing that separates the real trolls from the sceners is that the sceners *also* contribute to the scene).
now, your motivation seems genuine and your list of competences is quite impressive actually, compared to what most newlings have to offer from the start. the good news is that graphics, most specifically 3d graphics, is generally something that many demomakers have trouble coming by, so you might actually be in much demand. how about some previews? (musicians are, by the way, less scarce, though if you rock, you're wanted)
the bad news, however, is that most groups these days don't do the recruitment thing so much (anymore), mostly because they're simply a bunch of friends (real life friends, often) who like to do demos. some exceptions are there, most notably titan, and probably some more that I can't think of, but many groups simply don't hire: you join by becoming a friend, not by kicking ass or by filling out a form.
that said, you don't really need to be in a group in order to contribute to a group's demo. basically, what it all boils down to is doing demos with people you like doing demos with.
as hinted above, many people who make demos together are actually real life friends, go to bars together and generally see each other outside demoparties as well. not all by far, but it's common. from your Pentagon story i deduct that you're probably located in Panamerica; you might've noticed that most demosceners are in Europe, hence the usual tip "try to meet up with the sceners in your area" might be a little difficult to materialise.
however, there is of course the Northern Dragons, the most famous and notorious demogroup of northern america, who seem to do fairly well and also are fairly widespread (much in canada though); you could just ask if they're by any chance in need of a graphician or musician.
but the biggest tip is, i guess, just connect with people. many sceners are on IRC (IRCnet #pouet.net is a start), some do email a lot, you might fancy http://www.bitfellas.org's forum, etc etc. i'd tell you to get your butt to a demoparty ASAP but I guess the closest to you is in salt lake city (ehh unless there'll be another Block Party - does anyone know?), which basically is far for everybody in the world.
if you get totally excited though, it might just be worth it to attend one, even if means crossing the atlantic (it's been done, aplenty). i promise you won't be disappointed :-)

dipswitch: No, I haven't been reading any scene blogs. I was actually just scrolling through some old demos I had coded (some nasty stuff there, at least code-wise) and started looking up some of the old demo sites I used to frequent to see what was going on.

from your samples i'd say you're still abit too green on 2d/3d for any heavy duty work but its always nice to be in a group that challenges you to hone your skills to something more impressive. never happens overnight though.

I don't think you have what it takes to become a demoscene professional, you should work on your children to walk the small road and become famous and rich for you. Make them start doing math by 5, and coding by 6 and you should have a youth professional by the age of 12. With right encouragement (say, you will buy him beer if he codes a demo) he will kick ass by 14. Then after 2-3 years of drug abuse he will be ready to become a demoscene idol.
