RIP skybax/hedelmae

Rob: Yeah, in retrospect, I agree - sorry for all I offended. I didn't mean to offend, just to make people think about some things.
Yes, I agree both with Nutman and Rob. Nutman has a point but this is a place of grief. And yes you are right, I never new skybax personally yet I instantly reacted placing a sad smiley here as everyone else because he is a scener and all the community is sad.

Though it's sad when people die so young from something so unexpected as a bar fight, but maybe I am just annoyed of the true fact that everyone would just die oneday from a stupid incident that could happen every day.

RIP skybax.

Nutman, why not go to his funeral to say how insignificant he is compared to the holocaust, asian tsunami and all that? Fucker.

Sigh.... amazing how some people have to go to extremes when you try to make a point. Obviously it is taboo to something outside the ordinary, even on an un-ordinary site like Pouet. Come on, guys - THINK! And, for god's sake, READ what I wrote. I'm not being disrespectful in any means. I'm just saying that it's funny how we seem to mourn over the death of one person we don't know, and somewhat dismiss sorrow when millions die.

Obviously it is taboo to POINT OUT something outside the ordinary
read the thread to realize that several people DID know him.

RIP

cp: Read MY posts and see that I'm not talking about the ones that actually know the poor guy.
Knew....sorry!
How edgy it may be, nutman does have a point here. This has nothing to to with Skybax though, who died because of some stupid bar violence which is a reason to be sad about it, even if you don't know him.

But a fuckton of random strangers chucking out "RIP"s without even knowing the guy or maybe even meaning it but just doing it because he was part of the community might be a bit meaningless.

And nutman, the reason why we 'dismiss' sorrow when millions die is because the human mind cannot comprehend that much sorrow and it's kind of self defence, it has nothing to do with blowing a case like this up. This is sadder for many, because we can relate so easily to this persons demise.

nutman: we'll see how you find it funny and unrespectful when someone else is making reference to the futility of mourning the death of someone you've known and hanged out with. just stfu already.

okkie: again, it's called respect. you don't have to show it if you don't want to but some people rather do so then just ignore the fact altogether. claiming it to beeing meaningless is defnitly disrespectful. even if you dont think it is, the least you could do is just stfu and ignore it.

I think this is completely normal in cases like this especially when there's this kind of pointless violence involved.

I also think this is a kind of condolences thread and your point (yes there is a point) maybe fits better to another thread.

Okkie: Ok, true to a certain point, but am I the only one who can get immensely sad when I see and hear about what's going on in Darfur and seeing the world do NOTHING about it? Why don't we have a "RIP Darfur" thread?
ps: did I EVER point out it was meaningless? (I know what you mean when you say "meaningless", but meaningless usually means "for nothing" - and it certainly seems to me like Skybax's death was indeed meaningless - some stupid bar fight and some guy ends up dead. If THAT isn't meaningless, I don't know what it is).

I agree and I did already apologize for that - just hard to move the discussion to another thread, when people keep throwing baseless accusations at me in this thread.
didn't know him, but he seems to have done some nice stuff for the hedelmae demos.

rip.

Indeed - and his music is quite cool aswell. Not hard to tell that he was from Finland. A big loss to the scene. :/
pulque won assembly 2006 mobile demo so atleast i think skybax succeeded some of his scene goals. anyway. i'm not religious or anything, i dont believe afterlife or god. this kinda struck me hard because i knew this fella. he was good person, nice guy, was good at making hirez/pixel/ansi and good at making music (even tho i didn't like goatrance much). anyway, certainly big loss, i really would love to talk with him about that textmode demo and show my new stuff (i'm not sure if he was aware that i did some new ansis). too bad. sometimes you don't get to say goodbye to some guys you really respect :(
