Starting Demoscene

Preacher: As far as I have heard FMOD's timer only has 40Hz resolution resulting in every demo that uses it for timing stutter a bit even whien it would run at full vsync framerate.
Try it - it's good to see with MFX or STS demos (or every other demo using rainmaker's GLUE ;): kkapture the demos at 60fps, step through the single frames and watch how in some frames nothing happens.
As far as I can remember Firelight was relucant to fix this, so maybe it's time for a new lightweight (and perhaps even open source) mp3 and ogg player dll. :)

what's wrong with BASS.DLL?
IT'S NOT INVENTED HERE!
... and something new/small/opensource could also easily be made a static .lib for all the dll haters out there ;)
Suddenly, some things make a lot of sense. Need to switch..
Thank you guys! More reactions than I had esspect!
kb_: I already like BASS more (I did used it with C# so BASS.NET )
kus ma bite: I dont see much demo's in .NET languages, why is that ? :)
eye^PaC: I dont really think its slow, but most of the time I rewrite my classes and get stuck in the APIs like SDL.NET/MDX.
rarefluid: Indeed. To be onest I tried C++ very brief but never had a good reason to do so. The reason I made this thread is because there are not so many demos writtin in .NET
+: Naaah... I dont support Bill. If I did I tried XNA Xd
Maali: Go make garfield!
stijn: Ja dat ben ik ! :D

Marijn: nice website design *giggle*
gargaj : I can't believe that you have stollen the design from Marjin! Bad bad conspiracy!! :P
plus, it's not ripping if we take a look at the subject from Timbaland's point of view \o/

Just remember to use whatever you feel like and dont let people decide which "libraries, trackers, music etc" to use for you. If it isnt comfortable or fun, then it probably isnt worth doing. Demoscene should always be about having fun. :)
Gargaj: did you also check the site's source? :-)
Code:
<h1><span title="I love Conspiracy, but I will change the image">Stevens</span></h1>
time for hidden scrollers with fuckings in our webpages!
you mean "truckings".
sparcus: i did yeah :D sparked a giggle :)
get a psychotherapist.

exe's GOOD
DLLs aren't bad, they're awesome, I mean if it's not the Fairlight's ribbon-producer engine what we're talking about
I will use DLL :).
But for the DLL haters out there I can always embed them as resource.

marijn: hang out with the other dutch sceners in #scene.nl on ircnet, eventhough the dutch scene is mostly dead :)
heh a crazy scene-spirit .net demo would be written manually in .net asm aka MSIL or CIL :D

it's good to think that demoscene still brings our dear puters to their knees, not only games or commercial/technical demos :)
oh dear :) it was vice versa in the past. very sad.
i know for fact that if one wants to become a demoscener, one has to fry a c64 in oil and eat the remains so as to gain supernatural powers?
