Form a group in Sophia Antipolis
category: general [glöplog]
Hi every Poueters around here !
Object:
Form a new group of demo makers. The first production could be
anything in the domain of demo making but an Intro would be a good
start.
Location:
I leave in Sophia Antipolis, near Nice, France. I think in a first stage
members should be able to meet easily at low cost to lay the
foundations of the group.
My Experience:
I used to have an experience with demo making as musician and
coder on Amiga. I was in IRIS, one of nice French group originally built
in the late eighties. The group is now based in Danemark.
You:
I'd like to meet a coder, a Graphist or any other motivated human in
the area of demo making. No age restriction. I started when I was
young (17)
I already have plenty of ideas for you ...

As nobody answers my posted message "Form a group in Sophia Antipolis", I understand that it has become harder to launch a new group today than before.
I'd like to call the group "FREQUENCY".
I'd like to call the group "FREQUENCY".
Why not start up one with your friends?
Maybe you can check : http://grapejuice.c.la/
I know for a fact I don't live in Sophia Antipolis :)
Maybe you can team up with the mates at Realviz France in Sophia Antipolis. I know for a fact that they are pretty good at what they are doing (going to Siggraph and such), but they are just not demosceners, yet. Maybe you can convince them to join "Frequency"?
Hello Ulrick,
I saw your web site, and I would like to know, how do you find the time to create a production ? I also have a little family, and I'm always busy...
When I was 'young' :D I coded some real time graphical effects in 68k on my Amiga. Now, I only have time to run some PC demos.
I'm living in Cannes. I will talk about your project to some friends.

We have the project to invite Realviz for the MAIN#2 demoparty seminar for a presentation about their technology.
Frequency is a sweet game!
Thanks for your reply.
I thought aboout starting a new group but the more important is in fact for me to meet today's demomakers to see if I still have something to create in the scene.
Preacher:
My good friend, ACE (who was in IRIS too) leaves in Paris and I know
that lack of proximity may impede on the sucess of the project (an Internet Paradox). This is one of the reason why the French branch of IRIS slowered down its activities. When IRIs was built up, its founder (Chris), one of its coders (Zoro) and a musician were about Paris while me, ACE and a graphist (Goofy) were leaving about Perpignan (SOuth of France).
BackSpace:
Well I am on grapejuice but still have no reply. SOmeone from there suggested me to come here.
Noname:
Ok, I am going to visit their website.
TJ:
You right. When I was a student leaving in my parent's house things demoing was quite easy (at the expense of my school results by the way).

Well good luck
Now days making demo takes more time that's all...

good luck, french scene is dead since some years now (like ojuice and pixelfr band)
Zone: the fact that you do nothing AT ALL doesn't mean that every french scener acts the same way and that "french scene is dead". The french scene doesn't revolve around you, make sure you're aware of that once and for all.
(hello Kenet, Nova, Sector Sne, MJJ, Willbe, Oxb, Knos, Kaneel, Med, demoscene.tv staff etc...)

Well, at last there's Cocoon and Orb. If he lived nowadays, Mozart would still have hope. :)

Damn, Keops got faster than me !

/The past/
So, two years have passed since I added the message above. I am happy to see that FRequency has at leat lasted two years. I'd like to thank keops, H2o and others who've been supporting us as we released our first prod at main#2. But two years it is nothing compared to the length of time you and others have been members of a demo group. I am also happy to see that a new entrant French group poped up like adinpsz who did well at main#4 with a full demo. TITS is also very promising. Thus, in addition to Cocoon, Orb and and few others, the Fench scene is not dead.
/The future/
We are doing a joint prod which will be released perhaps within the year. @lx of FRequency is also doing a synth and preparing even more valuable things ... (see http://code4k.blogspot.com/). Therefore, his synth which used only midi samples of one's sound card won't be used anymore. See e.g. for our "raytro" 4k (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYD58OdL_bA), our "potatro" 4k(http://www.youtube.com/user/alxFRequency#p/a/u/0/mswPy5bt3TQ), or our last one, "Clouds" (http://www.youtube.com/user/lXT95l#p/a/u/2/ur9mqKQBKNM). XT95 is still working on his 3D engine (http://www.youtube.com/user/lXT95l#p/a/u/0/90zS8SVUAIY), which will be used for our first full demo that we will probably release in 2011. He is also doing a joint 4k with TITS.
/Greetings/
I hope you didn't find this message boring. Or a reflection of pride. it is not. I just wanted to thank you sceners. You coders like keops improve one's knowledge about how computers work and what they can do at the limit. Gfxers and Zikers add some warmth which make our prods easier to share with people out of the scene. Last but not least, organizers like cybernostra and sites like pouet must be congratulated for they allow us to meet each others and share our vision of demos as art in a lively and sometimes funny way.
We are just learning more from the others, so, just thanks!

I for one, applaud you, sirs, some mighty fine productions of late ...
let's have a group hug ;)
