if it goes stale, this will prolly be the last one i run, but if it works out, might have more down the road

bump.
actually there's a bit of a problem, what exactly this compo is for? Creating a game? Creating a demo? Raytracing an apple tree?
It looks ok, but it would be good if you can provide what kind of compo this is.

Wat is the deal with rules bout making a windows executable without ms dev tools?
they have a logitec g5, but apparently no clue at all...
aint ye olde clue shoppe next to the friggin hw shop?

Those have to be the most retarded set of rules ever.
i have a few suggestions for additional rules that would fit those of your compo. here you go:
- all trees (no apostrophe btw.) have to have at least 16 branches, and they have to resemble your initials in binary ASCII code.
- prods with a search algorithm for valve-shops on the web will get a 2-and-a-half-points bonus.
- yesterday
- every code line must at least contain the words "no", "m$", "shit", "because", "i", "am", "ever", "so" and "l33t"
- the program must be written on a spectrum zx, compiled with an amiga 1200 but exclusively run in windows xp and above
- in case any of you win the compo, there will be no prizes at all
hope they can be added very soon, because otherwise this compo would look quite pointless to me...

oh, i forgot the most important rule (or better: i'd like to change a certain rule of yours that did fascinate me the most).
instead of
"2. Comments, the code MUST be well commented, this will prove that you really know what you're doing. Dont worry, the comments wont count against your lines of code count."
i suppose it should say:
"2. Comments, the code MUST be well commented, this will enable me to know what you're doing. Dont worry, the comments wont count against your lines of code count."
although i like the first version too... you simply can't trust your fellow programming colleagues, they copy&paste all the time. this is pure evil and can not be tolerated, especially if they don't know what they werde doing afterwards. splendid.

ok i could not resist these stupid rules and made an entry.

Don't forget the important requirement of writing 10 posts!
its all just for fun
1. Realize you're stuck on some project in your daytime job.
2. Announce an online compo 'for fun' and let others do the job for you.
3. PROFIT!
</conspiracy theories ;) >

xteraco: if it really is just for fun, why do you bother whether it is written using microsoft dev tools, for example?
i mean, you kind of limit your own compo from the start... i've seen a lot of sceners use visual studio ide and such...

honestly, all serious feedback is welcome, we'll prolly see some diff rules on the next one...
next challange, write a massive company mngmnt system in .net, muahahahaaa... (just kiddint ;) )

I took out the 10 post rule, sinse it was a rule for the next compo, and was lame... thanks for the feedback
Also, gonna allow m$ tool made entrys for the next compo...

avoozl's entry is pretty nifty
definately, cant wait to see if anybody else gives it a shot
Well, then here's mine, just 1 line of code. (There's also a clean version.)
It won't compile into a Microsoft Windows executable, nor does Microsoft Internet Explorer run it (but all other browsers do). I think you wanted to write pro-open technology rules, so the Windows exe requirement is a bit strange... but anyway, it's here for fun.

nice stuff... the point is to be a sortof pro-open type deal... if ya got some good idea's for the next set of rules, email me xteraco@gmail.com
