your favorite all time computer musician and the reason why?
category: general [glöplog]
Thanx for all this "feed back". You can also post more musicians if you want to. I try to find some good musicians I never heard from. :D For example I never heard of "dizzy" in the time he was active, but his songs are really goodies. Try to find some more good surprises like this. Also the chip musicians are welcome.
My alltime favorite for chiptunes is scavy. :D
Thank you.

Thank you.
Please, also try to explain why. I'm very interested about the reason, to better understand the songs.
In the demoscene and tracking community I'll have to second Shifter on dizzy - what awesome tracks that guy pumped out.
erkki kurenniemi. for he built his own machines.
Frans Bauer 4 ever!
David Hasselhof
md.
dune.
H.Kyllonen (kyoto)
Jean9 made some good tracks as well.
Melvyl of hellven kicked my ass so many times.
Xerxes had a great period around 99.
Necros made amazing tracks (martian lovesong is so "omfg wtf bbq")
Mortimer Twang has the groove.
Willbe aswell.
There are so much good ones to mention, so crazy a few mentionned them.
One of my fave might be bogdan then, stupid breaks with cute rabbit leads FTW.

in mod world it'd be another vote for dizzy here, for pure musicianship. and nuke/spaceman/atjazz/whatever hes going as these days behind him. :)
Mod wise, really, the shivers were with Heatbeat and earliest Nuke's work (Seeing is Believing music remains something beautiful to me).
Heatbeat was incredibly good at making stunning melodies mixed with a very high sound quality both mixing and sound design.
Well, to be honest, most of the finnish musicians were good back then (Strobo, Heatbeat, Dizzy, Groo...)

Dizzy, for being three steps ahead of all the others.
I like dr. awesome, perro, moby and jogeir liljedahl on AMIGA. They are very melodious.
Tommy was a friend and did some nice techno songs. His songs with harddisc stolen on 680xx.
Ripguy also did lotsa good stuff. Tough also all his songs & computer were stolen on 680xx convention. There was a techno song called "orgasm" that was very good that time. :(
Nevertheless, tommy became money for a new harddisc from his friends there and ripguy got the 1st price from lazer, because his computer was stolen. That was friendship. :D

and jogeir RLY loved many other musicians I think :)
@oxb: stop saying bullshit, there are no real commercial or lame genres, there are only commercial or lame ways to work on them (progressions for example).
and impulse tracker > * definitly.

@okkie,
why? were they lame?
why? were they lame?
No, they are far from lame, it's just your delivery that made me chuckle.
@seppjo: to say you enjoy them is quite what a lot would have said, it's quite common I mean.
And by the way Jogeir weren't accused to have ripped a lot of melodic ideas on other musicians?
