Bugs that become design
category: general [glöplog]
http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=6831 according to the mindcandy documentary there's a line rasterizing bug that became part of the design (the polygon clipping on the edge of the screen)
another bug with design:
drive through.
Oh i bet half of the morphing objects and colorschemes were originally unintentional. Plus some designish stuff like clipping, postprocessing effects and general effect ideas were inspired by buggy implementations of probably unrelated software.
I reckon the thread can be virtually closed now.

Buggy customchips, too...
weird rendering bugs are the best demo effects, because they're harder to figure out how to reproduce :D
But it's a bit "cheap", isn't it? Or do coders see themselves as pioneers whenever discovering a new bug that could be turned into an effect?
Bob Ross called those "happy accidents"
Just about everything in this was not by design. Apart from the 3d model, that is.
Nutman : "But it's a bit "cheap", isn't it?"
...Actually, this is called serendipity. :)

Orangina pulp!
Some of the effects in World Of Commodore were based on bugs, IIRC.
I immediately thought to this one: http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=16343
Broderick: that one popped into my mind as well. kickass demo
