Hey? What is that logic?! Foot pains, cut foot!!! This is stupid! The glops have nothing to do with fake productions and adding cracktros is good! You can't blame anyone for adding a lame production just for getting the glops. Pouet is not a collection of few specially selected good demos (like what CDE was) but just the database of everything demorelated! So, every cracktro should be there too, since this category exists too! I truly admire your weird way of logic, ohh.. cracktros are getting added for the glops, which makes fake prods beeing added because some people are angry about cracktros beeing added and so glops are the root of all evil! :P
You 've got to understand that glops will never be dished! Don't you understand that even glops is a part of pouet's soul? A traditional element of the site? It's just that glops are connected to my personality when adding a new production. A number increasing just makes me feel I have added more and more stuff. A number connected with my personality perhaps. Not that I would need such a thing to know that I am active in pouet, but it's just the feeling that the glop number has brought us in pouet and it's good!

And if you say that glops are useless anymore, just because there are always the same 10 people in the top gloppers border, then we should dish the top10 demos list too..
However another reason for that, is just that the top10 demos and gloppers borders have to be updated since ages, something that I have mentioned trillions of times before! Fix that and you will see some changes..
I would like to suggest something else glopwise instead. A button, showing the Top100 (hundred, yeah!) gloppers in another screen, would be an interesting addition. You might only see the same or almost the same (if the top10 updating will be fixed in the future) people in the top10 gloppers list, but there would be more interesting sceners pouet activity changes in the Top100 list. And it would be much more interesting, for someone to discover, who are those 100 people who are really interested for Pouet. We would know then, which sceners come here regularly and update numerous stuff, who beelong more close to the family of Pouet! What do you think?

Glöps don't give us anything!! If people need to get something (in this case glöps) in order to be able to give something (filling the database with demos) then there is something wrong!! Are we here to watch and to share demos with the rest of the participants or are we here just too be on a top ten list?? Skip the glöps!
And optimus, what difference does it make if someone is a top ten glöpper?? You suggest that flamers that write a whole lot of crap is being "more close to the Pouet family" since they got higher glöps then not so frequent writers?? Or should we have good glöps/bad glöps?

Here, you are just getting glops, which is just a virtual thing and not something materialistic costing money..
Neither from the people are doing them mainly for prizes or glops. They code mainly for the demoscene and we add mainly for making the database bigger. The other stuff (glops or prizes) are just an addon prize (and glop is just an imaginary one) and for the filling of having acheived something. Still, I can't understand why so much hate for glopping, since it's the less harming thing in pouet imho :(

Interesting point for me! Similar to the RPGs where you try to collect experience(XP) points like crazy, just for the sake of! But collecting glops doesn't dish the other real meaning of pouet. They both work together well adding a nice RPG (as you said very well) feeling to the whole process. We are spending our times in front of the net mainly for updating the Pouet database, and glopping is just an additional game that give some fun in the whole thing! Doesn't harm the database and makes some people happy :)

pouet is not as old as the scene, it's pretty young and started even after the scene died... well... ^^
if glops weren't there, I'm pretty sure the database would be 1/10 of it's actual size. It's not like demoo and others, the purpose of pouet is to store every production ever released, and a virtual reward/competition greatly helps for lame prods or older prods.
Good prods which people like would be added, not unknown or lame ones.

And, yes, it's true that this little glop system helped pouet get filled with content. And at no actual cost... I also believe that it should not be abandoned... Maybe perhaps change the 'top gloppers' header to 'these people have no life'... :-P
