What's up with atari.org??!
category: general [glöplog]
Does anybody know what happened to www.atari.org and all of its subdomains? I can't reach any of them ...
Good question.
Whilst it isn't too common an occurrence, it isn't completely unknown for the Atari.org server to break down once in a while, and take all the relevant subdomains, including dhs.nu with it. You'll just have to be patient whilst the admins get it back up I guess.
I've also noticed a drop in email, as I have one of my email addresses affiliated to atari.org as well.

Nicely timed Havoc!

Just thought it'll be down forever :) Although I couldn't imagine that ...

The repair was planned for this weekend, but due to access limitations to the data centre we probably won't be back up until wednesday.
The filesystem got partly corrupt after an OS upgrade, but it's readable so there is no problem accessing all files and settings, plus that we have backups (less than 24h old) at another location.
We're terribly sorry about the downtime, it's the first one, which has lasted more than a few hours, since 2003. So about four years without any major hickup, which we consider quite good with our very limited resources. We are looking into upgrading the contract to have better support and accessbility, however it will start to cost us some serious money then.

I 'am crossing my fingers you will be back soon, such a long time without dhs.nu & atari.org is terrible !!
And yeah, its cool how well everything worked in the past, lets hope it stays the same after this breakdown.

Indeed, it's amazing how fast internet can get boring! All the best for you then, Atari.orgers..
Phew! I was getting worried there. Thanks for the reassuring post Anders :)
Good luck with the upgrade. If you ever start to accept donations to keep dhs.nu running I'd be one of the first in line!
I'll follow Carbon !
I hope ATARI.ORG will be back soon - because we want to release something... ;-)
I'll follow tobe_mjj !
/me hopes for quick recovery of the server as well..
*heal server heal*

Stlll no atari.org web, but some email seems to be coming back..

It's back!! (www.dhs.nu, welcome back.)

Now it isn't... But not much longer now?
It looks like it is all settling down, I can get into atari.org and subdomains consistently, so it looks like it is back :-)
yeah - finally ... :) Great ...
Great, it is working again! And dhs.nu too!
Phuew,
it's been a long week. The machine was in place on wednesday as we planned, but the backup took a really long time to restore.
Right now most websites and services are running as usual. There are a few things to fix yet, it should be finished today if nothing goes wrong.
Thanks for hanging in there.
