Why is the PC prevailing?

Macs are PCs for a year now. Why? Why is everybody turning to the PC and why don't they create a new architecture? PCs are 30 years old. Modern computers could be a little faster... like the RISC under CISC thing. Bla bla...
because of the evil conspiracy by the evil companies!
the momentum of the technology. like qwerty.. its the most sucky keyboard layout it was designed to be it, and its impossible to replace it.

answer me this: why is everybody turning away from the platforms of the 1970's?
Because x86 was in the PC and the PC was made by IBM and nobody ever got fired for buying IBM.
It's just money.. you can buy a non-qwerty keyboard any time you want. But if it's €3 for qwerty and €30 for non-qwerty, guess what most people buy? Same with the rest of the hardware - you can buy a PC for €400 or a PPC machine for maybe €600, but the PC is 2x faster for the money. Maybe it's not so efficient, but who cares if it's 2x faster and costs less?
no, the only reason ppl dont buy non-qwerty is that they are used to qwerty. how much does it cost to change the order of the keys? 0eur. ppl dont buy it thats it.

Software, You can bring out a mega good platform, but if there is not much software for it, its useless. So everyone start making software for amiga/atari ^^

The fastest desktop/notebook processors nowadays are x86 ones, and all the chipsets available for these processors are PC-style ones. There's really not much of a choice.
PowerPC? The CPUs are like half as fast as current x86 ones, and the only manufacturer of high-performance desktop/mobile chipsets for them (Apple) is gone now. IBMs server chipsets aren't a good choice for personal computing. The same goes for the embedded chipsets. Console chipsets are a bit better off, but they only work with crippled CPUs like Cell or Xenon.
ARM? All available CPUs are targeted at the low-power embedded market, there's nothing even remotely useable for desktop computers.
MIPS, SPARC? Seriously, no.
