Basic file requirements for running demos?
category: general [glöplog]
Well I ran a few more tests:
Tried running sumotori on another computer with ATI card with 3 month old, clean install of WinXP Pro: No run. This system has DirectX 9c, January version.
Tried running it on a friend's XP Pro computer that hasn't been reinstalled in 6 months, and has had a tonne of other games and crap installed: It runs.
Dependency Walker reports no missing DLLs for what I can see, all green.
It must be a particular version of a DLL that is required in order for it to run, which sucks.
Just to reiterate, ALL other demos run fine.
There isn't a time limit or something funny with the actual exe file for sumotori dreams, is there?

Well, I give up. I'm not going to install every game and demo I've tried in the last 6 months just to get this little game working again, fun as it it. A pity.
Email sent to writer to suggest recompiling it for modern computers...

As usual, I say I'll give up, but then I try one more thing:
I searched for msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll, copied those into the system32 folder, and voila! Sumotori work again.
Whew...

And you said you had all those dlls..erm erm

that's cos it only checks for kernel32.dll since the rest of the imports are packed inside the exe.

Don't forget the DOS4GW :)
