French presidency competition 2007
category: residue [glöplog]
.kkrabob : Chill out, dude, and take a quick step back before being that "manichéen". Just remember all of Mitterrand's good deeds and I'm sure you'll agree this is not as simple as a right-left debate.
As for our children cursing us for electing Sarko, let him be elected first. And if it happens to be as bad as many of us think, we shall remember that democracy made it this way. Except if you guys want it back to Stalinism. It always amazed me that people still believe in communism in 2007.
Anyway the character "Sarkozy" can be a dickhead sometimes, but I hope people voting for him can see past and vote for his program instead.
By the way, Toulouse rules, I miss it.

Toulouse definitively rules :)
Ô mon Païs, ô Toulouse, ô Toulouse...
btw krabob you may want to read Eric Besson's lampoon against Royal, it's quite striking for revealing her real character made of sectarism, populism and uncommunicability :/
i know we are supposed to vote for values first but i consider the presidential election as quite different from the other elections, we choose a man or woman who will represent France abroad and can talk to medias and other countries and can make things calmly progress through smart compromises... and i'm not sure at all that Sarko could fit that latest function either :(

How in hell are we supposed to trust someone who CAN'T actually code a simple plasma ?! I mean : they're gonna handle a whole country ! And neither of them are able to display a fucking OpenGL 3D rotating cube !
Politics should be sacked if they don't know the basics of Matrix Algebra and First Grade trigonometry. =)

hehe TomS4wy3r... actually some french politicians aren't that scientifically dumb because quite a bunch are professors or doctors coming from universities (OK they prolly don't know what OpenGL is ;p), whereas a big part are lawyers or civil servants coming from the highest republican institutions... those latest ones are usually the most stewpid at sciences, literature or history and the most politician ones :/ ... like Sarko or Sego.
at least they don't come from big fortunes like in that plutocracy called the USA.

On a more serious note : we Frenchies do pay for our sins...
It's nice to vomit on politics, it's nice to criticize, to be full of contempt, it's nice to be a "rebel" (for what it means today, anyway...) and it's nice to live and act as if we are all "out of the system", but one day or the other, you have to get your hands dirty. It's called a "reality check". Not everybody accept that. And those who do accept this dirty job (... get some power to actually "change" the society) are not always the "fittest" (considering "fit" on a moral ground).
There's a good saying to keep in mind in that matter : "All it takes for evil to win is for good men to do nothing."
Considering the USA : to the least, in the USA you can really start from scratch and be at the top a few years later, whatever your race, whatever your religion, whatever your opinion. Try to do the same in France, if you dare... :)

Try to visit a demoparty in the USA, if you find one...
(sorry for Blockparty organizers ;)

Hahaha, nice one Zest. =) You know, there's a big fucking obvious explanation for this, but I figured : instead of writing it down on Pouet, I'm gonna write about it later, for an article in a diskmag or something.
But you're on something, I bet ya ! ;)

Don't badmouth Block Party! :)

Now Bayrou knows he has a nice support from french citizens, he creates "Le Parti Démocrate".
He won't call about voting for left nor right by the 2nd turn.
If he succeeds to gather enough interrest, it could be some major change for France, this good-old-messy Republic.
Anyway, we speak about legislatives, not presidency.
Now waiting for Royal or Sarkozy to get into the Elysée.

my best wishes to Bayrou as a party orga ;)
French presidency competition 2007 = LOLROLFMAOWTFKTHXBYE
Bayrou was dismissed during the first round of the election because of the Dutch color scheme of his party.
Je sais pas moi, mais je sens que Sarkozy va être président. Si c'est ça, j'me casse aux states, il est bien plus cool leur président.
oxb: try Canada instead ;)
