ASMWinter is a lan, pure and simple, gaming only. By having two events we can e.g. invest into equipment that would be usable in both events.
As for the name, the goal is to have the event earlier in the year in 2008, but we didn't get the party place this year as early as we wanted. So next year, it won't be near Mayday =).
