what cheap gfx card?

I second shifter. Anyone having/getting a GMA950 should not expect to be running any games or demos. It does run SOME games and demos, but none of them even close to decently.
I guess I'll wait then. Since I'm only really interested in really light laptops. (And not those back-breaking semi desktops)
ATI X1950Pro (stewpid marketroid nomenclature).
the best you can get on moribund AGP bus for 200 euros (not that cheap...) :>
and coders had better make demos specially for it because i'm getting one ;D

knos, for example all the latest 13" vaio's have geforce go 7400 or equivalent included. don't know if you're looking even smaller or lighter laptops, though...
i've got a 7600Go in my vaio.. it's nice.. although with the latest and most demanding demos i still need to set it to 640x480..
it's a big laptop (15" screen), although it is relatively light..

ehm... ok. x1600 laptops ~2 kg, x1700/7700 ~ 2,5 kg. i don't count those as "back-breaking semi desktops". but if skipped the gym the past 200 years and want lighter stuff (1-1,5 kg) you will have to go for 7300 which is crap. but. it's still a LOT better than the 950...
It's no secret that there's a horde of people pining for a 12" portable with something like a 7600 inside.
Honestly, I don't care it it has half the typical battery llfe. I also don't want a goddamn internal DVD-RW+/- drive. Just give me more than the pathetic integrated graphics typically seen in anything below 14".

i worked out, instead, and now my laptop isn't back-breaking anymore!
shifter: Dell has a 12" with a gf7400. it's not that bad.
I don't give a shit about modern technology so I'm going for the GMA950.
Slummy: Just wait a couple of months and the new Pyramid3D will be out, and it will be a KILLER for sure!
Gloom: Will it be able to run Duke Nukem Forever?
Slummy: Haven't you heard? They have been cooperating to perfect the performance for years now. Jeez, you're, like, _soo_ not updated on, like, tech-stuff!!11
I heard it will handle so many polys that they will call it Cube3D this time.

I said 7600, not "slightly less retarded than the 7300". Look it up -it's not like I'd settle for half the performance of the 7600 just because the 950 is a piece of shit ;)
