scene music stolen

category: music [glöplog]
hehe thats a long post by tempest on digg.com, imagine that it probably took timbaland not even half time to steal the song, than it took tempest to write that post.

timbaland didnt even bother to try to do something hiphopcoolish with it, interpretate it or whatever calling it, like all SKILLED hiphopproducers with even the slightest bit of respect of the hiphopculture would do. He is a toy.

Do your own research/listening. (There's a good set of mp3-examples as torrent, by some unknown individual.)

yep.. i love this especially one guys reply to okkie's comment:

okkie wrote:
A c64 musician called grg remade the song on the c64 (using the infamous SID soundchip) which is what Timbaland used for Furtado's song.

menamearenick:
so tim used a c64 to remake the song. get your facts straight.

From the Wikipedia talk thread:

Where is Suni's official webpage where they can make a statement?

Apparently that would be enough then.

lol, Timberland is going to lose all his street-cred once his fans find out he is really an old module tracker who once went under the handle "AudioMonster"! :-D Anyone remeber the article about him ripping samples back then too! lol

Hmm, what about the other Timberland ringtones, are those ripped from chiptunes too? :-)

Aargh, klipper, look what you've made me do, it's "Timbaland", not "Timberland" :-)

oops, my bad :) I guess we'll have to get used to writing things in street-lingo from now on...thanks to Tempest making the demoscene an official part of the Rap community. hehe

it's funny, none of the other ringtones (or any other of Timbalands tracks that I've heard) sound anything like "Block Party".. it just makes it that much more obvious, doesn't it..

The guys on that fan-forum said something about Nelly liking that ringtone ("Block Party") and therefore wanted to make a song out of it. Just one more fork in the road where Timbaland could have owned up and told her he didn't have clearance to use the melody, but no.

There's a thread about it on the Nelly Furtado fan forum too. This has spread pretty fast.

On the note of childish puns, before the shitstorm ensued, google did notify me on the first page that Timbaland expressed interest in working with Coldplay.

Knowing where "Talk" came from, how could I even feign surprise :)

gotta love replies like this:
"well its not like they stole the lyrics too....the songs probably mean totally different things.....take chamillionares "ridin"......Weird Al Yankoic made the parody and it became a top ten hit here in U.S....so it shouldnt matter...and its not like anyone is going to listen to them and the odds are very nlikely that do it is going to be a single"
it's ok to be gay, it's only gay when the balls touch :)

Another thing to consider is the song might not have copy right protection of any sort , so if Tim sampled it he would have been free to use it.

Argh. This is like the umpfht time I've read something like this, but it keeps annoying the hell out of me.

dont forget they are all yankees. They learn as much in 9 years of school as we do the first 9 weeks. So they are having problems keeping up with us when trying to think.
Dont let it go to your head. =)

gloom: don't forget that many of these people are probably teens who grew up in the post napster age, so you can't really blame them for not knowing anything about copyrights :-)

Yeah "Why isn't free ..like.. free, you know?!" Gotta love that Nelly-forum ;)
