Since I don't know him FTF, I'm not entitled to make a diagnosis. However, the behaviour you described does not seem to be related to schizophrenia.
Schizophrenia or dementia praecox is a mental disease which is chararacterized by several "positive" and several "negative" symptoms. The most characteristic positive symptom is the subjective impression that you're hearing voices which come from your inner but aren't yours. These voices usually criticize you and sometimes also command you to do certain things. This is dangerous if they command you to commit a crime or simply harm yourself or somebody else.
Another characteristic thing of schizophrenia is that your thoughts are muddled. If you talk to a schizophrenic, he/she will often stop sentences right in the middle or drift away from what he/she initially intended to say. You might also hear neologisms - new words which nobody can understand. The schizophrenic simply invented these words and may believe that other people will understand them; he/she isn't aware that only the schizophrenic himself/herself understands them.
Among the negative symptoms, there are a flat affect (you aren't easily moved by good or bad events) and apathy. It may even have somatic effects such as rigid movements and similar facial expressions.
Schizophrenia must be treated by specialist psychiatrists. Usually the patients are kept in house and given neuroleptic drugs.
