Mu and voting system

category: general [glöplog]

I think it would be great to add 1 pig vote to the calc of Mu. Now, a prod with only 1 vote thumbup looks better in the Mu than, for example, a prod with 90 thumb ups and a pig. Also, a prod with only 5 votes, all thumbs ups looks the same than a prod with 50 votes, all thumb ups.

So, I propose a simple solution for a better Mu: (sum of all votes values + value of one pig) / (number of votes + 1).

ah im not the only one bothered with statistics -_-
i care only the number of pigs.

many thumb downs = it's a shit prod.
many thumb ups = it's a mainstream prod.
many pigs = either doesn't work or great enough to confuse minds.
Popularity is useless outside the top 15 prods.

I thought it was currently calculated as (thumbups - thumb downs) / (number of people who've commented)

So if we have a prod with five comments- two thumb up, a thumb down, and two piggies all from different people it gets (2 - 1)/(5) = 20%, and then if one who already posted a pig decides to thumb it up the score becomes (3-1)/5 = 40% (now ignoring their first-posted pig)

That way nobody ends up counted twice...

anesthetic, I use the same criteria: order first the prods in pig order. Means at least it's enough interesting, or there is something to say around it :)
