Logos
category: general [glöplog]
These logos would've been better with png alpha transparency. jsyk.
PNG transparency doesnt work correctly in all browsers (like IE) which will make the logos look fugly for some. I'm guessing thats the reason they're GIFs.
Well I know that shit abou 90% of the general public using IE, but I guess/hope sceners are smarter than that. Seriously, I wouldn't give a damn about IE users.
I use IE... namely the newest version. It's better than mozilla and almost better than opera.
Last time I checked, Pouet was openminded and provided us with demos from all platforms, using any API and trying to be browsable by most visitors.
We are not one of those zealot websites, narrowminded and accepting only what a few zealots deem good (Unix only, DirectX only or Mozilla only)
If some authors want their logo to be displayed properly on all browser using gif, then let is be.
(I also use IE by the way)

the_Ye-Ti: Yes, obivously...
xernobyl: Good, then you should have no problem at all watching semi-transparent png's.

Wow, I guess you missed all those tiresome logo discussions in the past. Way to go!

So instead of making them look fugly on IE only they're now fugly on every browser :-)
shftr: Maybe I did. But what I've done instead is to upload png versions of people's gif logos. But unfortunately, they seem to be deleted. Fair enough in a way, but still unfair in other ways.
Btw: A good looking png logo:

And here's one that would've looked better with png opacity:

Ooops. My mistake (:
But still a good-looking logo.

This topis is
WTF
nitro2k01: though I cry out loud whenever I see a nice logo wasted by obsolete/inapropriate format, I (mostly) gave up discussing that topic.
xernobyl: you're talking about ie7 or ie6 ? 7 support PNG correctly ... it's only been 10 years since the publication of the spec but hey it works now ...
Anyway last time I checked ie7 was supposed to be pushed as a windows update so all the cry baby using ie6- will soon have a "better" browser.

doh_drd: Don't even remotely compare me to adok pls!
(This is also for my own reference if I get some time over to ocnvert a few logos)

Unless they're not using WinXP SP2 or block the fuck out of updates. They do that a lot, you know.
see this is a bad logo too:
the original was much better. *cough*

I'm with shifter
nitro2k01: you first abuse the logo submission facility in the lamest way ever possible and now you're telling artists what to do with a logical basis that you don't care what browser others use?
hi kids, vote the graphics not that's extension or browser's

I wonder how many more times we're gonna go through this same discussion again.
I think we're on #3 or #4 right now.
