You know what? We started a demo group (named nowadays) about 7 years ago. Then we were looking for a graphician. One graphician was very eager to join but his pictures weren't really good. He had enthusiasm but he wasn't that good. We didn't take him. Blame on us. This was fred/calodox. You know him?

asphyx: i can't compare the scene to how it was 10 years ago because i only joined it 2 years ago or so. so maybe you're right. but does it help to bash people who are just learning to code demos and are willing and (maybe) capable of learning all the techniques to become really good coders?
keep in mind that the niveau of scene prods in general is _very_ high. if you doubt that, look at the tasks most programmers are paid for: web applications, database code, GUIs, whatever. all that is a piece of cake compared to demo coding. i know many successful professional programmers who never EVER would be able to code halfway decent intro.
