Beastie Boys go Demoscene
category: general [glöplog]
Just for once, I decided to post something a little more serious in here.. so just follow http://www.beastieboys.com/av/ and be happy :)
the impressive thing is that they seem to use the term "demo" the way the average pouet.net.visitor would interprete it.
this and winamp/wmp is the future.
yesno.

The "invitation intro" was done by a guy known as "SirDan". His page is at www.sirdan.com (der), check out http://www.sirdan.com/eng/html/Tourshots.htm. Assembly '99, hmm.. Small world, in'nit? And with demo'ers becoming club VJ's (Bluespoon, Satori, Einklang.net), the line between the scene and DJ music blurs even further..
i can recall atleast 2 scene prods with beastie boys references in the past (outside and paul's boutique), im sure there are more.. maybe they knew about them and got to know about the demoscene phenomena.
who knows. :)
who knows. :)
I'd like to add that there's a legendary old C-64 cracker group with the label 'Beastie Boys'.
And what happens when the demo scene gets commercialimised by the music industry?
More MTV shit and less ART!

The demoscene has a lot to learn from the music video industry...
Personally I think the reverse is true: The music video industry has a lot to learn from the demo scene. But what do I know. The last time I saw a music video was two or three years ago.
Demoscene-Reality melting pot baby!
Who cares if there is some fusion between mainstream music and the demoscene. ART is for EVERYONE. This would be a great progression for the demoscene.
When I started to see sinus scrollers and WaReZ style typefaces on television last decade I thought it was a great sign the scene was being noticed and mimicked in other areas of society or more likely sceners where taking their art to other mediums as they themselves grew up.
Let's face it; the demoscene frequently mimics styles from other mediums.

Nope, they launched their new-style trailers around end 2000 IIRC, when replay was already getting kinda inactive.
We have borrowed some ideas from music videos. Shame on us.
Do you seen a video from Pitchshifter , named "Hidden Aggenda" , it looks like very good, very fast, superbl designed 3D demo.
