I recently came out with an idea seeing the amount of beautiful me links pointing on a google video...

Why party organizer wouldn't spread some of the more visual appealing demos/wilds on google video with setting a download price, of let say $2?

I mean, every scener knows he can download this stuff for free on scene.org, but not everybody knows that.

Wouldn't it be cool that ignorant people pay for us to booze at parties? Har har harrrrrr......

Btw increasing prizes is just an idea... Free beers is another one...

why shouldnt that money go to the group that made the demo, not a party organiser?

Because earning money with a demo out of party prize is somehow non scenish to me...

But yes, there should be a checkbox in the party upload system telling that "demo makers allow party aganization team to collect money upon people ignorance to make the party better in future and more independant from fucking commercial shitty sponsors selling hardware"...

My demos are and will be free for everybody. Including people outside the scene.

Ok, this is what wouldl happen:

1) Scene starts writing shareware demos. At first, it works, some insane people spend their whole income on the newest Farbrausch stuff etc.

2) Some people say: "Demo is art! Art must be free!" and some others say "paying si teh shit!" and they will write keygens and cracks for demos.

3) The cracks for demos will include their own little demos, they will be called "democracktro"

4) Democracktro-scene will split off and release "cracktrodemos" without the cracks

5) After some time, go to step 1

So after 100 years or something, we will have "democracktrocracktrodemocracktrodemocracktrocracktrodemo"-scene.

Maybe one can make the exes free while the videos/compatibility versions cost money? Making the videos and fixing bugs are just extra boring crap..

an typical entrance fee costs about 25 euro, the same amount of money you can easily save in thousand ways.

loaderror, the downside to that is that as soon as you make people pay money for it, you litterally have to provide some sort of support.

The idea was not to lock demo, but to use google video to allow stupid people to pay for have it downloaded if they feel it's necessary.

There may not exist any person stupid enough to pay for a demo anyway...



If one day someone discover he could have all what he paid for free if he had known scene.org before, he will hate the sceners and will start shouting "scener = bastards".
As everybody knows, shouting and insulting = good advertisement... ;)

People intent on promoting the demoscene, should probably spend at least 30minutes of their time a day to do some viral marketing in this or that other community. Not just gamers, but ricers, rap fans, beauty contest participants etc..

And show up as specialists in some specialized seminars like dog shaving, duck fat liver cooking, horse riding from downside, etc.

I think there is some saving the scene in the air tonight.
