Wow. I don't understand all of it, but this sure is heavy stuff. Had me fixated at the screen for the full seven minutes.
awesome
Saw just the last 30 sec on the stream. Enough for a thumb up. Thatwater effect..wow. Ok now for te real thing.
1st in my book, by far
Blew me away. Party favorite by far.
city scene is real nice.
Oh. My. God.
Holy guacamole guys! You did it. You came back!!!! Hurray!!! :)
asd style is back, and it's awesome
Cool
great stuff
I've been missing this. Got shivers during watching.
Oh yes.
on se. komia.
Wow, very great. And same what Sesse said.
Great! One of the best from ASD.
Massive visuals and direction.
But the soundtrack bothers me.
For my taste it is too much reuse of instruments and style but at the same time much less impact / assistance for the visuals than in your previous demos.
Great stuff nevertheless.

I want to love it but I can only go off the stream and youtube video as it runs at 20 FPS in 720p and crashes at the Buffalo. I really enjoyed this, and it might get 1st, but its not my cup of tea.
Masterful.
Thank you for coming back, this is stunning.
Solid. An interesting mix of old and new things.
ASD delivers yet another masterpiece, really stunning use of the particles, ocean shader is awesome, finally, we have fog/volumetrics as a cherry on the top.
good stuff
ASD quality. for me no "happiness is around the bend" killer but way above your typical demo in content and visuals. the soundtrack is a mixed bag with some amazing parts and some mediocre ones. and what sesse said. fat!
Absolutely huge production!
Unbelievable. Touched me
Demo of the year candidate. Just when you think it’s over it continues with another fantastic scene
This is so fantastic, guys. Way beyond any other demo I have seen the last months, not to say years.
waiting for this more than a year, monumental!
Brilliant (as usual)!
Amazing stuff. Loved it!
It was nice looking thing and technically incredible! The music was mostly nice but had from time to time trouble carrying the demo.
Brilliant!!!
Wow surprise surprise motherfuckers!! Assembly is back and ASD is back. A dream come true! Asd again setting the benchmark for another few years!! Brilliance! long live the demo scene. ASD team thank you.
Wow, just wow. I love it. Stunning piece of art.
Love it or hate it, it's ASD style.
Not sure how you guys can keep going with such massively impressive pieces year after year.
Kudos :)

Awesome!
Fantastic! Clearly the winner of the compo for me.
Totally mindblowing demo! Asd truly are the masters of fluid demo flow. Lots of human touch in this one too which makes it more emotional than your average fractal/effect fest
Lots of kudos for the music here. I love its progressivity and rawness. Massive scenery combined with beautiful effects. Thanks to ASD for giving that to us. You really are an asset to the scene.
symbolics are everywhere and talking to me. thanx a lot for this demo. regards
again: no.
i recognize and respect the effort and then some, but it just does not work for me.
i recognize and respect the effort and then some, but it just does not work for me.
Stunning!!!
Beautiful
Nice particles, but the music just doesnt do any favours to the visuals, which are all around but good looking.
instant winner for me :) fucking ace design and execution!
Some points near the start are a bit shaky for me, but after that it's crazy crazy good. Best moments:
Overall really fresh and I'll point out that the colours are extremely good throughout.
- Boat scene at the start, the shading is fantastic.
- All the scenes with an ocean surface, they look super good and are well-composed. City under the ocean looks awesome too.
- The disintegrating and combusting statue.
- Figures rising from the city with hearts. So good to see glow that does not saturate to white but still looks good, haha.
- Saturated / painted sparkling trees. This was really well composed, and works great with the silhouetted figures. I love it.
Overall really fresh and I'll point out that the colours are extremely good throughout.
These are some blasting visuals! Thats some next level stuff I've yet to see topped.
So of course a thumb, but since these guys are like veteran demomakers... I cant help myself share one point of criticism:
What stuck out the most to me is the mismatch between the music and the visuals. It started with the opening scene with the pier has a lot of fast scenes and transitions, while the music is soft and soothing; and it remained to be quite inconsistent from there on. I can only imagine that a lot of work went into this demo, but it feels the audio and synchronisation missed out on some attention over the visuals.

What Sesse said
Massive visuals with traditional ASD "progress rock" music, with some traditional origins made by ASD years before....Visuals are eyecandy, smooth, polished to flawless beuaty. But I hardly see coherence between visuals and music, some sync is needed.
Now this is demoscening!
Some very beautiful scenes, but such cheesy content. I respect the work involved, but stylistically this was far from my taste. The music seemed fine though.
Doesn't run on my FX-6300 GTX780 machine, not even close.. is this the kind of demo you only watch from youtube?
Nobody composes visual symbolism like ADS, this is great :)
rage: Uh. The GTX780 is over 5 years old.. So yes, with that setup, most modern demos will be watched on YouTube in your case.

cool.
the moral winner :)
despite the "n+1 ASD demo" feeling here and there, it had a sizable dose of memorable moments and a good flow. the city scene was exceptional and the rainbow-coloured grove gave it a final stab of awesomeness. what else, but thumbs UP!
Amazing regardless of the couple of touches of garishness here and there.
+1 to Moral Winner of the democompo.
Any psilocybin or DMT-induced inspiration behind the prod? Please confirm/deny.

assuming that creativity stems in drug use is so 90s :)
Basically Agenda Circling Forth mixed with Lifeforce ;) Still, lovely prod and amount of content is admirable as usual.
So great visuals... Beautiful. Fine music also.
Ok, so there you go with 1GB+ of data (I remember the size limit discussion).
But guess what: I was watching it only on youtube anyway :P
> This demo requires about 6GB of GPU ram to run.
One thing for sure: this demo is trying to push hardware/size boundaries, which I actually like.
Could it be done with lower specs? Until I would try it myself, I don't really know.

really awesome visuals and i somehow connect it with the refugee thing going on. dont know if this is intentional but it really, really touches me.
The soundtrack could have gone a bit further, but its not bad.

@wysiwtf: I wondered about the very same thing; here's from the Twitch chat (I removed some irrelevant lines):
Code:
02:08 < si_amusic> @sesse_ we never delve into politics in our demos. Never have and never will
02:09 < sesse_> @si_amusic but there were, for one, people that I could interpret as refugees.
02:10 < sesse_> @si_amusic of course, this is what you get when you make something open to interpretation :-)
02:10 < si_amusic> @sesse_ true :P but no.. no politics in our demos whatsoever
A beautiful take on the pure particle demo.
@aMUSiC: Ahahah, now I can't unsee it :-D
Beautiful! Lovely visuals and music.
best of the compo
Another music video -like demo which I simply like better than any actual music video I've ever seen.
Holy shit, these nice effects.
nice stuff.
This was my winner.
I just downloaded several hundreds of MB just for the demo to crash right in the loading screen? AMD Vega 56.
The beginning of the city part was amazing.
In stark contrast to the winning FLT demo I can only tell you guys that this ranks equally as highly for me! *we need joint firsts sometimes* ... For me this exhibits a deep and acknowledged theme, both experienced and understood but its creators. And thus presented in a way that requites impeccable skills to employ to the viewer. Your team is BRILLIANT!
I can only ever admire such wonderful inracacy and diverse understanding as this, like I said it is in complete contrast to the FLT nu-media shine, but is in of itself absolutely incredible in it's own way.
Emotion, theme, connection through scenes, there is so much more to this than warrants more than one viewing. I absolutely love it,, the graphics, code, and sound, and organic connection between them all, thank you <3

love for you!
Lackluster direction, nice point clouds, I guess.
Wow, this is beautiful! Great work! Love it!
demo orgasm
stunning. the amount of models and lidar 3d is just amazing, the direction/design is perfect, it flows so smoothly, and the shaders, especially the sea, are just ... damn run out of superlatives..
really really good.
really really good.
It is ambitious and has absolutely amazing moments. I cannot in my right mind not thumb this up. However, as a long-time fan of ASD I cannot help but noticed far too many re-used ideas from your own previous demos. Maybe intertextuality was the design goal, but to me it was often too familiar.
ASD still makes impressing stuff, but those going vehicles and running animals became old many years ago...
Nice, crash on the screenshot scene on pc, to slow on my pc. Although the video was beautiful well done! :)
That city scene, wow!
O_o--b
Nice visuals and good music. Feels a bit like a remix of older ASD demos though.
Simply GREAT! :)
(IMHO should have won)
(IMHO should have won)
So many distinct stunningly beautiful moments.
However, there is something here that bothers me a bit. The rendering quality is stellar, but with the quality comes a sort of an uncanny valley in my eyes, and I don't quite connect the music with the visuals. Maybe it's just too prog for me and I better enjoy the parts for what they are.

I entered the demoscene in 2016 and one of the first demo I saw was an ASD one. Instant love for this group <3 but I though I'll never saw new things from them and that I joined the community too late.
So thank you for this amazing stuff <3 I'm so thrilled and I really love this demo, thank you thank you thank you <3
In my opinion everything is perfect with it! The music is so nice and the visuals... well just heart breaking :)
Please continue to make demos!

even moar particles!
This is a masterpiece. But also it is so poignant. I think there is an underlying message about the rising death cult of fascism across our world, especially in Greece, with all these visions of armageddon. At the same time, while nature is trying to escape from all the terror we're bringing, we don't even notice it and we all live our lives completely disconnected from it, immersed into our own little reality bubbles, some of us burning ourselves out with work, others witnessing it and drowning in our own sorrows with depression, all trying to cope with the prospect of our inescapable death.
Or at least, that's what I got from it! :P
Congratulations ASD!
PS. ASD always had a unique visual style, but this is, IMHO, the closest to the identity of all ASD members, ever. Again, congrats!

Dope!
Nice demo and interesting effects. However, the synchronization between the music and the effects could perhaps be better. Now the soundtrack sounds a bit loose.
Runs fine at the start, but after the part with the burning people sinking into the sea about 3 minutes in, the screen turns black and music continues, but no visuals after that at all.
Win 7 64bit / GTX 1060...

Same here; on AMD it doesn't even start.
Sorry to be an ass, but I was bored to death with this demo :/ ...maybe I didn't get the story? Maybe I didn't care enough to enjoy it?
All I want is to be, is entertained, and I was not.
All I want is to be, is entertained, and I was not.
Brilliant. A masterpiece.
The visuals are beautifully well done and true to the classical ASD style. My personal favorite was the city part which left my jaw dropping. The lattice skulls was also exquisite!
As for the story I had some problem to connect the parts, as I usually have. For me it's a bit too abstract as the transitions leaves big gaps in what I interpret as the story. However, this is highly subjective and I respect the efforts and guess that the internal storyline has probably driven the development of visuals and audio.
Nonetheless I enjoy the powerful scenes individually as most of them are of the highest degree of quality.
Well done!

for your love is an excellent song by albert one,
unfortunately the soundtrack of this demo is not that song.
unfortunately the soundtrack of this demo is not that song.
wow. this is truly beautiful, especially the scene with the burning people and the city scene. its so much more than just iterations of abstract, raymarched effects, which is what really makes every asd demo special to me. the music is also outstanding this time in my opinion, it really seals up the demo and conveys a ton of the emotion.
Thank you for the show
as superplek said. Also massive reuse of style, music etc from their previous demos. Not the level of ASD, imho
Very immersive, like this a lot.
This is an obvious thumb up, as always, but i can see why it got second place. Astonishingly beautiful, but not innovative enough perhaps.
Your latest Assembly entry, "Monolith", is, imho, far, far better in all aspects.
Nevertheless, you have an enviable track record, and "For your Love" is still a star in demoscene's constellation. Congratulations!

Much Love <3 and YAY ASD is back
Tired really hard to watch it, however gave up after 2 minutes. Not my cup of tea definitely.

they were never gone ;)
luckily
made with passion, i like it a lot this time.
For me this didn't even run in the same compo as the others, it just stood out and had it's own thing while everyone else was playing. This feels very grown up, so grown up that I need a imdb-alike description to get and understand all the details.
Fantastic work!
Fantastic work!
The show was so fucking good, masterpiece!!
My favorite in the compo. Classic ASD style music, colorful water and particles, a pleasure to watch.
Extremely impressive demo with nice particles and water. Maybe my favourite from the compo. But it is hard to tell, as the top 3 this year at Assembly is really like 3 super-models of different styles and you can't decide which one you would like to fuck.
eye candy!
out of words...
What NoName said, that's why I prefere a foursome ;)
Also impressive ASD as a whole (as group) is still kicking ass..
Also impressive ASD as a whole (as group) is still kicking ass..
Massive.
Some haunting but beautiful scenes. A good demo.
...great particle effects...but too much relying on the usual ASD elements including the music...not brave or new enough for me...
ASD never disappoints. Great product :)
incoherent nightmare. really impressive effects thrown together in a pile, with disconnected music.
phenomenal!
Winner for me. I really wish more groups would go where this goes.
I don't understand why this didn't win. Sure, the winner was more polished, but this is just... more.
Stunning.
awesome!
Killer. ASD is back \o/ :)
If this looks weirdly zoomed in, turn off desktop scaling.
Fantastic demo again, ASD nailing it with the scene transitions again. Loved the flow, the particles really sold it. The statue head scene was a beauty.

fantastic

Beautiful!
Nice. :)
this was awesome
Holy crap! First few minutes I was "yeah, this is nice, but I've seen and heard all of this in ASD demos before", and then my eyes exploded O.O
!
1st place.
This is one of the craziest, most beautiful things I've ever seen.
really good feeling. I also loved particles porn! Brillant
should have won!
this is brilliant in every byte!
one of my new top-favourites! (if anyone asks me what a demo is i´ll show him this! ;) )

epic.
Incredible prod. I felt that the first scene detracted from the overall experience — the rapid cuts in the scene on the pier, and the cars coming out of nowhere. That whole part seemed to lack context a little. However, the scene with the couple walking down the river and rainbow-coloured scenery was classic ASD and gave me special feelings.
ASD once again delivers an exceptional piece of art, while on their path to the stars...
I would love to see a different direction at some point, away from their abstract style, maybe a medieval concept...
"Desideratus fatum desideratus bellum"

buffalo with two penises = instant thumb up.
Wow, that water-clouds-landscape morphing is amazing!
Two thumbs up for two p... okay, jokes aside, this rules hard. Yeah, sure, feels a little secondary in places, but with such polish and attention to detail I don't even care. You already had me at the burning figure, but the city scene is some next-level shit. I don't know how you made such a detailed cityscape. I guess it makes sense that you plan your demos a year or so in advance, cause I can only conclude it takes all the time you can throw at it. Hundreds upon hundreds of manhours. I actually expected it to win because of that. Again, wow. Seriously, never stop.
zzzzzzzzz
Shivers during watching. Not a very frequent experience during watching demos, if you ask me
Absolutely brilliant in moments, nice overall. The story was a bit hard to follow this time, but maybe I wasn't watching intently enough... And I think some of the models were of a decidedly lower quality than befits the rest of the demo. Big thanks for your work, regardless. Looking forward to see where you'll be taking us next.
I dont like the music, but WOW !!!
Incredible stuff
Stunning
Really great work, had me drawn in until 4:25 when you can very obviously see a pathway behind the building through the concrete (breaks the illusion for me every time).
Also I believe the problem people have with the music is around 4:30 when the "sinkhole" starts but the audio cue emphasizing it is not obvious(strong?) enough.
Hope you can accept this as an attempt of constructive critique, this is an awesome experience.

My Eyes Exploding with so many Amasing Effects, Simply Great !
Wonderful !
The beginning is very promising, but particle things fall apart too quickly. Then the movement of the particles is a tad too analytic, some more air etc would give them a nice twist.
Technically the demo is of superb ace quality, and for example the sea water effect is one of the best I've seen. But there are still some flaws even in that for example the big stuff falling into the sea should be causing some gigantic waves... :) !
The city scan scene seems to be somehow out from the other demo, especially around 4:30.
Cutting things out from here and there and adjusting some details would have made this the best demo ever made. I can still see that lot's of effort and love has been put into making of this demonstration so it is definitely a thumb up!

Wow. This is really an amazing demo! Great stuff!
Refined storytelling. Thumb up with my love.
P.R.O.P.E.R.
Superb visuals, soundtrack felt a bit weak at times compared to what was on the screen. Still, huge thumb up.
Sublime! I watched it and watched it again... Great story telling.
Great visuals and overall show..
With all these actual advanced renderings, and the music, it quite looks like a 2018 3DMark.

Great prod. Music is not in my tone - too "casual" for demo imho :) But visuals are outstanding. I'm still getting my jaw in its place after those water scenes...
Crashes during loading screen on Radeon RX 570.
Finally gotten around to watching this. It's clearly a demo in the tradition of ASD's previous blockbusters, although the tone is a bit more subdued, and it feels overall a bit more abstract and disjointed. In that sense it didn't have the same impact on me as f.ex. Lifeforce and Happiness Around the Bend. On the other hand, the tech seems more cutting-edge and refined than ever before. Regardless of my overall impression, this still lives in a class of its own and deserves a huge thumb up. :)
another masterpiece from asd
Absolutely incredible. Bastards :-)
Have to add that this demo contains artistically wise very top notch use of particles. About removing stuff, I would have ended the city scene when it falls into the sea. Then in the end instead of simply fading from sea to the clouds it would have been great to have the camera rising up through the clouds.
Otherwise still very good demo actually, one of my ASD favorites for sure :)

4k/8k resolution: graphics is shifted / process is no more.
Wow, just wow...
absolutely STUNNING piece of art!
Missed it until now, awesome
Simply awesome!
latest working nvidia driver is 472.12, blurred to death with any newer driver... anyway i love this demo!
Has anyone had any luck trying to force profiles through nvidia inspector to get things displaying properly beyond 472.12?
Awesome
OK good, I just upgraded video cards and installed the newest NVidia driver. This was my first prod that I tried running and all blurred. Rolling back to 472.12. Thank you for that info!
I can't roll back :( I hope there'll be a way to run it again someday.
My favorite part is the LIDAR, but as other say, doesn't work anymore with recent Nvidia drivers. (blurry)
Luckily I can still watch it on my Win7 rig where Nivida stopped support after 471. (minus the security updates without any change in the driver itself)
Will it be fixed ?

:~( That's a shame. Oh well, maybe it'll be like Happiness Is Around the Bend and Spin, where it starts working again after a few years. Anyway, thumb up for your demo.
Navis: I completey understand that a demo is a work of art and comes at what it is at the time it is done and that it has no real meaning for the artist anymore once its ot there, but... it would be really, really cool to have old asd demos work on modern systems.
Please think of a way to do it and if you dont want to dive in old codebases maybe someone else will? it surely cant all be all lost and deleted and youtube really isnt an appropriate substitution for many of us...

Can´t see the sense in this "I can´t see anything" in this demo. And AMusics sucks here.......
