Nice cracktro with one of the best logos I've seen lately.

A pity they didn't have time to finish it, as the original idea was quite promising and the music and graphics are first class.

Great little cracktro

Cool logo and music! Would be cool to see some more action in the isometric effect behind the scroller. Looks like it has more potential.

Nice logo indeed, and the music is lovely remake of some old classic I know I must have heard before

@Optimus: That is a very nice cover of the music of the Atari ST demo "There Aren't Any Sheep In Outer Mongolia".

The original was composed by Mad Max (aka Jochen Hippel) and Estrayk bravely converted it to Future Composer format (a thing that, to me, can only be explained by a pure masochistic rapture, considering that using that old tracker must be a PITA). :]

Very nice although it seems a bit unfinished.

Nice one but the logo looks like it's been done on PC and flattened to Amiga resolution, it's doesn't look good to me.

Yes, the intro is obviously unfinished. it's just that Winden decided to present it like that to contribute to the competition instead of not presenting it at all.
About the music, some people have asked me why I used the prehistoric Future Composer 1.4 to recreate Jochen Hippel's music, instead of using more modern solutions like protracker, pretracker or any other current alternative. there is no reason really, it was a challenge I had in mind since my beginnings in the scene and I saw this opportunity. although I have to admit that it is a tracker I doubt I will ever use again in the future, my respects to the musicians who did things in the 90's in that tracker, has been a headache.

This was a very neat prod! Thanks winden for trying to deliver the best version you could by sacrifying some valuable beer-time in the party :).

I like what I see and hear

Nice intro, the Future Composer choice makes sense as it's based on Hippels Amiga synth. So it probably sound quite a lot like it would if AJH made it himself back in the day :)
There is an AHX version as well.

Interesting what's going on here. Halfline bit, subpixel hires scroll? Not exactly easy to recognize and understand, must be watched on CRT. :-)

Really like the music....really good stuff.

Estrayk can convert anything!

Maybe a full concert orchestra to Spectrum beeper?

Easy!

Sorry for not being able to finish as I had envisioned... real life events took priority!!!

Tech info about the cracktro:

Here we are mixing multiple screen modes, thus the reason some stuff may look too pixelated compared to other sections...

Overall: Screenmode is set to interlace, so that we can use it in one of the sections. While causes slight flicker everywhere, it also gives for free some sort of temporal anti-aliasing to fast moving objects.

Top Logo: 32c Lowres 320px by 80 scanlines.

Bottom Scroll: 2c Hires 640px by 26 scanlines. No trickeries here, just scroll 1px every frame and all looks nice.

Middle background: 4c 320px by 140 scanlines, except we use interlace to display a 280 scanlines screen. This means each pixel of the isometric tiles is twice as wide as tall, giving very good resolution.

Middle overlay: 2c 320px by 100 scalines sinus scroller with 26px tall and variable width font. The actual CPUtime consuming part, it more or less takes 70% of the frame time! This was the 3rd version... 2nd version gave less than 10% free and 1st version was actually taking more than one frame to draw.

Fun facts:

1. I think this is the longest copperlist I've written manually in my 30 years of amiga coding XD

2. The first all-asm prod I make since year 2000.

3. But thankfully, I could easily write data converters & code generator as needed using simple C code, instead of requiring BlitzBasic as I did in the distant past.

4. Interlace mode is toggled manually by poking register $dff02a a doizen of scanlines before the end of each frame.

It has a nice music (althou short), logo and effect in the middle.
The numbers in the scroller font kinda do not fit, imo =/

A bit long and repetitive. Nice tune. Wait, an EXE inside a LHA file? Huh?

Kinda like it, even with a remade music (still prefer the original, like usually, but this is nice to listen to also).
