ADLIB <3
If Amusic was the Fasttracker of the Adlib world, this one would have been the Impulse Tracker. A bit harder to use, but more powerful too.
No-XS used this for the music in 1991 Donut. The result was excellent!
Loved it, and the file format that was superior in every way!
I reversed the .d00 output format back in the day, in case anyone wants to implement a player.

JCH also released the original EdLib player routines with source code.
The main problem is that there's not much in terms of version control. So for .D00/.D01 files made with different versions of EdLib, you may require different versions of the replayer.
A number of versions were included.
oh man, the Vibrants demotunes.. <3
Great tunes were written under this tool.
Althou rather only/mainly conversions from c64 scene, they bring many good memories.
Thanx JCH ;).

Criminally underrated music tool in my opinion; it has been indispensable to me when I've been making music for SID + FM expansion!
A little late to the comments, but ADPlug for Winamp/XMPlay, or the native D00 Ganbatte plugin for XMPlay, should play .d00 files just fine.
JCH did have too much luck with its tunes and tool (especially to reach more audience or game wise).

This is great adlib sound system! Its sound is unmistakable. Although OPL2 is the same everywhere, but...
Some really great music was made with this editor indeed. Thanks for the tip, Phoenix. Though I didn't find an up-to-date binary of ADPlug after a quick search (only sourcecode), I did find a recent binary of Ganbatte and it works perfectly.
AdPlug 1.8.2: http://support.xmplay.com/files_view.php?file_id=12
That's a very old build though. The latest release is version 2.3.3 available here but only as source code, which I didn't feel like trying to compile.

to those who are interested in some historical fact: this is the successor to the original c64 util called jch editor, also made by no other than jch himself.
