can you remember? maybe you had the same feeling?
it was april of 1986... ok maybe a little later can't remember... i was in the sweet age of 15... a friend of mine came over to me and at the phone before he old me he has something unbelievable and he needs to come over...
so he did... we loaded the prg file on my c64...
holy
fuck
how are they doing this? to display stuff in the border? yeah you are right i'm talking about borderletter 1 ;)
after watching borderletter 1 and figuring out how they did this i did this intro... my first overscan scroller...
but i wanted to display the scroller in the middle of the screen... unforunately there are some strange lines where the border is not opened... in 1986 i could not explain... now of course every one knows nowadays these are bad lines when vic fetching stuff from ram...
this is why the scroller is in y smaller to fit between the lines ;)
a bit later i discovered you can trick the vic and shift the bad lines with the y scroll register...which made it possible to display stuff without disabling the entire screen... with this trick it was even possible to shift the entire screen down... unforunately i never released that... damn
anyway... a black and white intro... plz ignore the 3d at the beginning this was done with 3d movie maker from the c64 mag...
you can't imagine how happy i am i found that again...
as i descripted already in my westbank intro all my c64 intros were lost on a party...
it's really funny to see stuff is popping up 36 years later... thanks to the uploader on csdb...
and of course... we never presented parallax and 90% of the ppl i greet i never had contact to... but well that were the early days as a guy without contacts ;)
and of course the zoids music is still awesome just recognising...
thanks internet that made my day!
