Just what I needed! A nice uplifting demo. Those "outside the castle" scenes at the end also looked very nice. What's going on there? Are they a series of billboards or is it polygons or what?
Totally not my cup of tea but still well executed, so I would be an asshole to not give it a thumb.
rloaderro: Thanks! If you're refering to those 3D scenes: They were made with the help of a makeshift Python pipeline consisting of various AI models, computer vision algorithms and manual refinements. First, 2D images were made by prompting a text-to-image-based diffusion model for a few hours, followed by a super-resolution model to make the resolution sufficiently high. Then a monocular depth estimation model was applied. However, to make the resulting 3D model look good from various camera angles, I separated the mesh into several layers with the help of multi-otsu, and applied a gentle erosion. The missing depth information in each layer was inpainted with navier-stokes (opencv). The missing parts in the textures of the layers were inptained with an image inpainting model. The layering made it possible to see behind objects when moving the camera. I manually refined the textures and depth estimations until I was satisfied (or ran out of time). Finally the meshes were decimated and draco-compressed with Blender.

I just did not expect to have fantasy, fairy tale storytelling being a main concept for a demo scene production. Not so many such novel ideas have been implemented in the history of our community. It's cool, I love it, I'm just surprised ;)

I love the originality of this, finally someone who thinks outside the box and does something well made and different.
Dragons are musicians and are always agree with good singers for a nice song 😄
hmm, thought I had commented on this already. Anyways, this is the kind of story/song that I would typically feel really cringe about when watching, however the whole thing was so well done and fit together so nicely that I just found it lovely in the compo. Very well done!

Cute idea, reasonably good execution (the "3D" scenes were a welcome break from the Moppi parts), and I like how the story itself fits neatly to the folk tale mold - it's small nitpicks like the aformentioned lyrical problems (syllable count, use of unsingable words that sound tortured) and e.g. the normal map on the windows that keep it from perfection, plus that it only really has one idea.

Many times a demo either has a fresh idea but lacks in execution, or it's polished to a mirror shine but is otherwise the well executed techno/dnb + pbr + post fest we've all seen before. This one combines a sufficiently unique idea with sufficiently great execution to make me fall in love, nits be damned.
